Facebook has made some tweaks in its “Why Am I Seeing This Ad?” section and has given you more control over this feature. Now you can check why and how an advertiser tracked you. This feature has added more transparency in the whole Facebook advertisement system, and now you can opt out from an entire company or brand which is targeting you through ads.

This updated service was created in response to the public disapproval for mishaps like Cambridge Analytica scandal, which caused the public disapproval on Facebook Advertisement policies. People were concerned about their privacy, which was exposed to advertisers and companies.

How to access “Why Am I Seeing This” service?

This feature is easy and straightforward to use. When you see an ad in your Facebook feed, click on the three dots that are located at the top right corner of the ad. After that, click on the why am I seeing this?” option. And there you will be redirected to the “Why Am I Seeing This” page.

Before the update came, the reasons for ad targeting were not clear to the public. The reason was not clearly expressed for the ad targeting, and this page told you that you were in a relevant demographic, which was chosen by the advertiser. But that was not certainly true or the right answer. Sometimes this feature was showing that you have visited the website or other property of the advertiser.

But, with the new update, the users can clearly see why the ad was targeted at them. The list of reasons is much more specific and complete, providing particular details about why the ad is targeted at you. There you will see reasons like that you have visited their pages or liked it or have mentioned the interest in your profile.

The updated feature will also tell you specifically from where this information came and gives you direct controls for hiding ads from this advertiser. You can also adjust the controls of the advertiser over your account information.

How to Opt-Out of Targeted Facebook Ads?

Facebook has made many changes in its advertisement policy. But it is still a tough process to access the setting; however, once you navigate to this page, you will see a comprehensive list of details of different advertisers.

To know which advertising companies and data sellers have your information and selling it to the advertisers. Go to the Settings>Ads>Advertisers and Business> “Who have uploaded and shared a list with your info.”

Now you can see the list of all companies with your private data. There you can click the “View details” to view what they got from your account.

If you don’t see any option a feature like mentioned above, then do not panic because this feature is not active for every user right now. It may take some time to update this feature on your account.
