Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn...Which social network to choose?

by Roger Eweev Online marketing

With all the social networks in our disposition today, businesses and brands looking to join the social media world got lost. Should they be active on all the platforms? If not, which one to choose? Our advice is choose the one or ones that match your business type and objectives. Here is how it goes …

Facebook: With over 1.3 billion monthly active users, Facebook is the most populated social network...ever. Can you imagine around 18% of the human beings access Facebook each month? Well that’s certainly a huge number.

Companies aiming for massive brand awareness to promote their products or services tend to rely more on this crowded platform as it allows a high targeted reach. Even though it became hard for business pages to survive without dedicating a budget for ads, it is still the most used platform. So if you are aiming to spread the word about your business Facebook is the ultimate way. But keep in mind that you will have to spend few dollars wisely to boost your presence. Otherwise, your efforts will be wasted.

Twitter: Twitter is the “breaking news” section of the internet. It’s the place where everybody wants to share and discuss the latest happenings in only...140 characters. This is what’s making the Blue Bird social network even more interesting. Short messages makes it easier for users to follow up on a specific topic, especially with the common use of Hashtags (#).

Twitter is considered to be an effective platform for businesses who always have interesting content to share. If you don’t have frequent material to share, then we advise you to stay away from Twitter.

However, if your objective is to build stronger relations with users, then Twitter is the right place for you to create interesting conversations and maintain them. It can also be used as a customer support platform to answer people’s enquiries and save them from the hassle of calling you.

Linkedin: LinkedIn is mostly known for its professional use. B2Bs rely on LinkedIn whether to build professional contacts, to recruit employees or to attract more clients. A recent study showed that “65% of B2B companies have acquired, at least, one customer through Linkedin”. If you are looking to increase your public relations, this social network is the best so far.

When it comes to content, use LinkedIn to update followers on the latest news regarding your business or the latest happening in your industry. What matters to LinkedIn users is contents that benefit them professionally and not entertaining ones.

Instagram: It’s no secret that humans are attracted more to visuals than to text and numbers. And this is the purpose of Instagram. Businesses and brands that rely on high-quality pictures and videos to attract customers consider this social network as the place-to-be on the internet. With more than 300 million monthly active users sharing instantly their beautiful and fun images, Instagram is regarded as the most popular picture-based social network.

Instagram’s main purpose for businesses is brand or products awareness. If you are looking to share your stories and experiences in high-quality visuals to attract the attention of users, Instagram would be a great option. In addition, if you are willing to promote your products to increase sales, this social network can be very effective, but in one condition: to have really appealing pictures.

Google+: Everyone who has a Gmail account has an account on Google+. Whether they use it or not is a different subject. The biggest search engine’s social network hasn’t really proved itself yet in the Middle East although it was considered as Facebook’s main competitor.

However, if you are looking to have, alongside a social media strategy, a SEO strategy to rank your website higher on Google search engine, then it is important to be active on Google+. Among all social networks, G+ has the most significant signals for SEO purposes.

In conclusion, to be able to decide which social network suits your business, compare each platform’s use with your objectives. Don’t worry, it is common to find that all of them can benefit your business, and choose to use them all. If so, we advise you to hire a social media agency in the Middle East as it could be a time-consuming and hectic job for you.
