by CS Garg One Stop Healthcare Solutions

Eyes are an essential part of your body and protecting them is one of the most important things that you can do to enhance your quality of life. Taking conscious and proactive efforts for protecting your eyes will definitely benefit you in future. Here are a few simple tips for ensuring maximum care and protection for your eyes, that you can follow.

Take a regular eye care health check-up: To make sure that your eyes are healthy, visit your eye specialist at least in a six-month interval. So if you have any problem related to your eyes, can be identified at the initial stage.

Know the eye care health history of your family: It is essential to know that anyone in your family has been ever diagnosed with a disease since many are hereditary. It will help to determine whether you are at higher risk to develop an eye disease or not.

Eat right to protect your vision: You should include fruits and green veggies in your daily diet. Eating fish high in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon, halibut, and tuna gives a lot of eye health benefits, research has also proved this.

Control your heavy weight: Obesity or being overweight can enhance your chances of developing diabetes and other systemic conditions that can lead to the loss of your vision. Consult with your doctor if you are having trouble in controlling your weight.

Wear protective eyewear: While playing sports or doing activities outside the home, always protect your eyes with an eyewear. It may be safety shields, safety glasses and goggles, and eye guards specially made for a certain activity to provide the correct protection.

Quit smoking: Research has proved that smoking leads to damage of tiny blood vessels and eye muscles, hence increasing the risks of AMD ( age-related macular degeneration), glaucoma, cataracts, optic nerve damage, and dry eye syndrome, all of which can lead to blindness.

Give rest to your eyes: Nowadays, most of the jobs require direct and constant glaring at the computer screen, which is very dangerous for your eyes. Always be sure to take a break in every 20 minutes. This can help in reducing eye strain.

Exercise regularly:  Do regular exercise for keeping your body fit as well as for making your eyes healthy. It will help in pumping more blood and oxygen to your eyes. Exercise can also reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration by up to seventy percent.

Maintain proper hygiene: Before rubbing your eyes or even touching your eyes, always wash your hands properly. The people who wear contact lens must follow the hygiene instructions strictly to avoid infections and allergies in the eyes.

Maintain proper distance from electronic screens: Adults are glued to the computer screen at workplace and kids are sticked to the TV screen and mobiles at home, which can lead to serious eye problems. Thus, it is necessary to maintain an appropriate distance while viewing these electronic screens.
