• Carry-on allowance

Each policy of the airline is designed while keeping the concerns of every passenger in mind. Flyers of American Airlines can travel with one carry-on and one personal item for free on the board. Don’t forget to check the list of restricted items to avoid any problems at the airport.

The maximum dimensions of the personal item can be 45 x 35 x 20 cm or 18 x 14 x 8 inches. Your carry-on bag should also fit in the given limits. Its dimensions should not measure than 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm or 22 in x 14 in x 9 inches. If these items don’t fit in the given space on the flight, these need to be checked. You may additional restrictions on the carry-on bag based upon certain airplanes or certain airports. 

• Checked baggage allowance

If you are going on a domestic, transatlantic, or transpacific trip, you can take up to 10 checked bags. On all other trips, a maximum of five checked bags is permitted. The maximum weight of the checked bag that is allowed on any flight of American Airlines is 23 kg or 50 lb. Your checked bag should not measure more than 158 cm or 62 inches.

American Airlines Baggage fees
