Explore Cultural Delights with Cheap Holidays to Abu Dhabi
by Amanda Sutcliffe Travel DealsA holiday spent in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the
United Arab Emirates (UAE), gives you the chance to explore its wide range of
offerings. This city is also the Abu Dhabi Emirate’s capital. The Emirate of
Abu Dhabi is the largest of all seven emirates of the country. Archaeological
excavations carried out in the areas surrounding Abu Dhabi have revealed that
the region has been inhabited since the 3rd millennium BCE. The discovery of
fresh water became the reason for migrations of the Bedouin tribes in the late
18th century and one of them was the Al Nahyan family. In recent times, this is
the ruling family of Abu Dhabi.
Your cheap holidays to Abu Dhabi would allow you to
explore many of the cultural attractions that the city has to offer. One of
them is Bait Al Oud, a musical facility that plays an important role in
preserving and sharing some valuable knowledge of Arabian musical instruments.
It was established in the year 2008 and is dedicated to the study and preservation
of songs and the techniques associated with 'oud', which is an Arabic stringed
musical instrument. Certificate courses in this musical instrument are also
conducted at the facility.
During your cheap
Abu Dhabi holidays, you'll be delighted to visit the Qaryat Al Torath
Heritage Village, which is located in Al Ain's Ain Al Fayda district. The
heritage village features 32 stalls that appear like the traditional markets or
'souks' found in this part of the world. You can explore handmade items like perfumes,
clothes, products made using date palms, and spices. Visitors can also watch
the Bedouin women at work while getting around in this heritage village. You'll
have plenty of opportunities to savour traditional tea, sweets, and other
Emirati foods during your visit to Qaryat Al Torath. It opens every day at 9:00
in the morning and closes at 10:00 in the evening.
While enjoying your Abu Dhabi holidays, don't miss
visiting the Currency Museum. The excellent range of exhibits in this museum
takes visitors through the journey of UAE’s formation until recent times with
the help of coins and paper notes. Historic Saudi Arabian riyals, Qatari
riyals, and Indian rupees are also included in the collection. This museum was
opened in 2013, marking 40 years of the UAE Central Bank. You can also have
some interesting insights into the days when the dirham was introduced as the
official currency of the UAE and the first series of notes were issued.
Miraj Islamic Centre is yet another fascinating place
worth visiting while exploring the cultural delights of Abu Dhabi. It has
museum-like displays that contain Islamic artefacts sourced from many
countries, such as India, Syria, Egypt, Russia, Iran, and Iraq. You'll find
some brilliantly-woven silk textiles and carpets while exploring the displays.
The collections also include vases engraved with Arabic calligraphy, jewellery,
miniature paintings, and marble pieces. Miraj Islamic Centre also has a
complimentary pick-up and drop-off service for its visitors arranged from the
hotel where their stays have been arranged.
