Expected Cutoff of KCET 2016
KCET 2016 Cutoff is the screening factor that will be applied on the score obtained by the candidates in the Karnataka CET 2016 Exam. The exam will be held on 4 May and 5 May 2016 and its result will be declared in the 1st week of June 2016. Once the result cum scorecard is issued, the aggregate marks of a candidate will be compared with the cutoff. If he is able to score marks more than or at least equal to the cutoff, he will be selected for succession in the next round. If he fails to score the sufficient marks, he will be rejected from participating further.
This process is done at several levels to eliminate the less deserving candidates and make way for more deserving ones in the KCET 2016 Admissions. It is expected that the cutoff will be declared in the 1st week of June 2016 with the declaration of result. The exam governing body, KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) will decide KCET 2016 Cutoff on the basis of several factors, some of them are – number of seats for allotment, number of candidates who appear in the exam, reservation policy, last year admission and cutoff trends, highest, lowest, and average performance, and exam difficulty level.
All of these factors contribute to the decision of KCET Cutoff. Unless there is a major change in the exam pattern, one can expect a positive or negative fluctuation of 10-15 marks in the cutoff from last year. It is necessary to filter the candidates at each stage since the number of seats to be allotted through the counselling process is far less than the number of candidates who appear in the examination. There shall be two levels of counselling and for each level a distinct Cutoff of KCET 2016 will be set. Declaration of the cutoff will be made about 2-3 days before the counselling date.
A mock allotment round will also be conducted so as help candidates get an idea of the allotment they are likely to get. It is important to note that cutoff for qualifying the exam will be different from cutoff of various courses, colleges, and categories. Generally, KCET 2016 Cutoff of reserved category is lower than the cutoff for unreserved category. For general category candidates, the cutoff score to qualify the exam is 50% of the total maximum marks in the exam. For reserved category candidates, it is reduced by 10% thus making it 40% of the total marks in the examination.
