Executive Office Furniture For The Reception

by Emma Wing Modular office furniture
A reception of an organization is like the face of an organization. When a visitor visit’s an organization, the reception is where first impressions are formed. An office reception can be classic and functional or warm and welcoming depending on the organization’s philosophy. Whatever the chosen design style, the reception needs to be aesthetically appealing.

Here are a few simple tips to help create the perfect reception for an organization.

Keep it simple

Visitors of your organization will use the reception as a waiting place. It is important that there are more than enough seat for visitors as waiting times can often be long. Using office furniture such as sofas and pebble chairs is a good idea. Do not stuff every corner with a chair, space the furniture out with side tables in the middle.

•    Avoid clutter
A reception cannot be used as a loading and unloading area. Even though mail can be received here, do not use the reception to receive large cargo. Also, do not use the reception as a storage room to stock up on stationery or other office supplies. If the office has severe space constraints it is wise to install storage organizers as part of the executive office furniture.

•    Electronics and technology
Due to security reasons many offices have electronically equipped doors that open only if operated by specific personnel, namely the receptionist, which is why it is important to ensure that a receptionist is always at the desk or that there is a backup swipe card with another employee in the waiting are.
Also, having Wi-Fi access for visitors is a thoughtful gesture. It means that they can conveniently work while they wait for a meeting or interview.

•    Use bright lights
The reception of any organization should be well lit. If it receives natural light, then it is ideal but if not then using bright lights is highly recommended. A dark reception can be eerie whereas a bright reception looks cheerful and projects an air of productivity.

•    Branding

Branding matters in the reception because it is where a visitor creates an impression of a company. However, do so subtly. Not every cushion has to be marked with a logo. Using coffee cups, coasters, etc. that are customized is a safe bet. Try duplicating the executive office furniture design in this area.

•    Keep it well stocked
Getting a subscription of the latest business related journals, magazines and a few general newspapers is advisable. Make sure that they are not left all over the area and put back in their designated stands or shelves regularly. Using the reception as an area to showcase any awards and mentions is also a good idea.
