The latest migration program is going to give priority to the visa included in the Skilled stream. This is done to support the Australian economy and increase the growth in the local jobs.

Under the Priority migration skilled occupation list there are around 17 critical occupations and this list is for the employer-sponsored visas. All the changes are done so that the Australian economy can get back on track and the individuals can get the job.

How many spots are allocated?

In 2020-2021 Australia’s migration year program, the employer-sponsored visas are less. The total number for the below-mentioned visas have increased to a great extent:

     Global Talent Independent visas

     Investment visas

     Provisional Business Innovation

Here is the breakdown of the total count on different visas:

Global Talent Independent Program: 15,000 (5,000 in the 2019-2020)

Provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa: 13,500 (6,862 in 2019-2020)

Partner Visa changes

Under the partner visa applications in Australia, there is a requirement to pass the English language test before opting for the path of permanent residency. The Australian partner needs to meet all the requirements. If all goes well, the changes are going to be in consideration from mid of 2021.

Visa refunds and waivers

Due to COVID-19, Australia’s borders were sealed due to which the migrants have not been able to enter Australia. With the VAC (Visa application charge) refunds, the visa holders will be benefited in a great manner.

     Visitors

Visitor visa holders whose visas have expired between March 2020 and December 2021 can get benefits with the waiver and they are eligible to apply for a new visa.

Seasonal Worker Program and Pacific Labour Scheme workers

Under this option, those who were granted the visa before 20th March 2020 are not able to travel to Australia and will get a refund on the VAC.
