Destination weddings are memorable, adventurous and beautiful, but can come with a set of problems unique to this type of wedding. After looking into Gatlinburg weddings, and made all the arrangements, an important feature are your guests. Needless to say, the day cannot be as special and as memorable without sharing it with those you love the most. There are some special considerations you need to put in place where the guest list is concerned to make the event as successful as possible.

Send invitations as early as possible

Send save-the-date invitations at least six months before the wedding date. Around eight months to a year before the wedding date is also ideal. It doesn’t matter if you simply have a general location and a date. The idea is to give guests a chance to prepare well in advance, whether it is saving up for airfare, arranging for childcare or requesting time off work. This is not just helpful, but also courteous.

Be as detailed as possible

Send as much information as possible with a save the date. This includes the specific location for the wedding, room blocks, post-wedding reception location or any other information that guests will find helpful in making arrangements.

Send formal invitations at least three months in advance

The formal invitation should be sent out at least ten weeks before the wedding. By this time, you should have finalized all the details of the wedding. The invitation should include information on dress code, accommodation, transportation, event plans and local attractions. Couples who send out formal invitations in good time find Smoky Mountain weddings more successful and fulfilling.

Be clear on RSVP’s

Include a clear reply date in your formal invitation. You may have an idea of who you can expect at the wedding, but it is important to get confirmation for planning purposes. Remember that guests have to work out travel arrangements, budgets and times among other thing so it is courteous to give your guests a few weeks to RSVP.

Set clear expectations

Ensure that guests know exactly what to expect for the wedding before the actual date. Clear out any issues regarding bringing children to the wedding, finances and other grey-areas. Finances are an especially important issue. Ensure that the guests know exactly what your financial responsibility and theirs is regarding accommodations, travels and activities.

Keeping these in mind will help plan the perfect wedding for everyone involved. Destination weddings can be a little more difficult to plan than a traditional wedding but with the right fore-thought and strategy, everything should run smoothly.
