Equipment required while installing roofing sheets

by Ankita Sehgal Freelance Blogger, Lives in New Delhi

Many house owners prefer installing roofing sheets as they require a small amount of investment and very less time-consuming. However, installing meta color sheets or any other type is not an easy task. Well trained professionals with years of experience perform the installation process. They use the proper equipment to perform this task. Mentioned below is a list of equipment used by professionals:

Nail guns

While installing gi roofing sheets or any other type, nails are very useful. Most professionals use nail guns to apply shingles and many other purposes. Although working with nails guns are considered risky, they are very fast to work with compared to hammers. Roofing hammers and hatchets are used as well.

Hammer Tacker Stapler

In many cases, underlayment is installed with staples or cap nails. If that is the case and staples are required, a staple gun should be around. People using air nail guns use an air staple gun as it becomes necessary. One can find 2-in-1 nail and staple guns in the market as well.

Air Compressor

All tools should maintain adequate pressure to function properly. For instance, a pneumatic nail gun requires an air compressor to maintain proper pressure. Other options such as a nailer-compressor combo tool are available that don’t require an air compressor. But in some cases, they have been found inadequate to complete a roofing job. Moreover, air cartridges are expensive. Hence, having a compressor proves to be more convenient.

A Shingle Cutter

Professionals use utility knives or roofing hook blades for shingle cutters or other purposes. While using shingles, something is required to cut a roof underlayment and an ice and water protector. Utility knives work just fine but a roofing knife is more helpful as it is specially designed and makes work easier. They have special hooks that help to control the cut while working.

Scoop Shovel & Roofing Shovel

Contrary to the flat, pointed landscaping shovels that are used to dig, scoop shovels are large, deep shovels that have no points. Professionals use this for moving loose shingles into a dumpster.

Roofing shovels or tear-off shovels are also very useful to get the job done. They are specially designed for this purpose. Steel teeth are helpful in lifting old shingles off the roof and put them into the dumpster. Some come with angled faces so that one does not have to crouch much.
