English Tutor Makes Weird Link Between Trump and the GCE O Level Exams

by PRC Agency PR

The United States presidential elections might be over, but a little-known tutor is making links between the results and the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O Level examinations.

According to a blog post by Lee Lin Cher – the lead contributor to information and education website, The Cher – there are many learning lessons that Singaporean students taking the GCE O Level examinations in 2017 can learn from the entire event.

“Prior to the elections, all the experts were projecting a Clinton win. After the elections, these same experts are cooking up reasons for why a Trump win isn’t that far-fetched after all,” Lee muses.

“At the end of the day, hindsight is 20/20,” Lee adds.

Rather than take this event as news coming from the other end of the globe, Lee believes that valuable learning lessons can be derived from this whole episode of the underdog stealing the show.

“Many GCE O Level candidates in Singapore behave like the pundits in the US presidential elections. They go into the examinations, totally expecting to ace the O Levels; but when their results are released, they scramble for rationalisations and excuses to explain their less-than-ideal performance,” Lee expounds.

“This should not be the case. One should prepare for his or her GCE O Level examinations as though one is running for the presidency. The ‘campaign’ – so to speak – is long-term, requires a lot of groundwork and is a test of one’s grit and determination. That is the way to ‘Trump’ the O Level examinations,” Lee philosophises.
