England Wins The ODI Series With A Low-Scoring Second ODI

from him, middle order batsman Jason Mohammed (50 runs off 73 balls, 2 fours
and 2 sixes) and Jonathan Carter (39 runs off 36 balls, 2 fours and a six)
showed some patience on the crease with their handy knocks.
However,
the lack of support from the other batsman forced the team to surrender before
the English team in just 47.5 overs at a score of 225 runs.
Liam
Plunkett was the pick of the bowlers who captured 3 West Indies wickets, while Steven
Finn and Adil Rashid too grabbed a couple of wickets each to contain the
innings on a low note.

this, England lost its opener Sam Billings only on the second ball of their
innings, but was steadied with the innings from opener Jason Roy and middle
order batsman Joe Root.
Jason
Roy grabbed his 9th ODI fifty (52 runs) in 48 balls, hitting 7 fours
and a six in the same.
Joe
Root, the ‘Mr. Dependable’ of the side went one to get an unbeaten inning of 90
runs, which he got in 127 deliveries and hit only 3 boundaries in the same.
At
one point of time, England lost few quick wickets to offer some hope to the
West Indies team. However, the brilliant innings from all-rounder Chris Woakes
down the order shattered all their hopes. Woakes smashed 68 runs in 83
deliveries, where he hit 5 fours and 2 sixes.
As
a result, England was easily able to conquer the target of 226 runs in 48.2
overs, with the loss of 6 wickets.

the West Indies bowlers, Ashley Nurse grabbed 3 wickets, while Devendra Bishoo
got 2 of them.

Root was awarded with the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his spectacular
inning of unbeaten 90 runs, which was enough to win the match.
