England v/s Pakistan 1st test match prediction

by Himmat Singh Digital Marketer

Pakistan is probably the only subcontinent team which has challenged England in their own backyard in the recent years. The last two times they toured England, they drew both the test.

One of the main reasons behind Pakistan's success is its fast bowling department. The current squad is comparatively young but they still have got the quality.

England's batting has also been vulnerable in the last test series. Jos Butler’s form is a major concern for England.

But with both the teams having quality fast bowlers, it will be interesting how the batsmen from both the teams play them.

Weather Conditions and Pitch Report

There is 50% chance of rainfall on the first day, but it gets better from day 2. It will fairly sunny from day 2 and the humidity level will be very high throughout the test match.

The Old Trafford pitch has always suited the fast bowlers. In recent times the pitch has not been fast, but the lateral movement has been there which helps the spinners.

Teams news

England is likely to go the with same lineup that they went against the West Indies, with Broad and Anderson at their best, they will create problems for Pakistan batsmen.  Joe Root has looked scratchy since his return to the squad, but getting more games under his belt will help him get his touch back

Probable XI: Dominic Sibley, Rory Burns, Joe Root (C), Ben Stokes, Ollie Pope, Jos Buttler (WK), Chris Woakes, Dom Bess, Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, James Anderson.

Last time when Pakistan toured England, Yasir Shah created problems for England batsmen. He is not at his best for the past 12 months but still he might prove to be Pakistan's trump card.

Babar Azam is the player that might create problems for England. His recent form in all the formats is really good, so England must get him out early.

Probable XI: Shan Masood, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali (C), Babar Azam, Fawad Alam, Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Yasir Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah,

Mohammad Abbas
