England Tour of India- 2016
India is playing host to another round of cricketing action against England on the 9th of November 2016, in a series that will last all the way till early February 2017. The tour will play out through 5 test matches, 3 One Day Internationals, and 3 T20s. The series will be an immediate follow up to New Zealand’s tour of India that is scheduled for September with the Indians playing through three test matches and 5 ODIs.
The test matches will be spread across 5 iconic destinations in India, with the opening match being played at Rajkot on the 9th of November, followed by Vishakhapatnam on the 17th of November, Mohali on the 26th of November, Mumbai on the 8th of December, and Chennai on the 16th of December. After a month’s gap, the series will continue with ODIs on the 15th of January in Pune, on 19th of January in Cuttack, and on the 22nd of January in Kolkata.
The series’ debut T20 match will be hosted at Kanpur on the 26th of January 2017, followed by the second match at Nagpur on the 29th of January and finally at Bangalore on the 1st of February.
The series is expected to be a good test for the new head coach and ex-player Anil Kumble. The country will be looking forward to find out how well he has prepared the Indian team to meet such a titanic challenge head on. Young skipper Virat Kohli will be leading the team for the test series which the English nabbed when they toured India last time in 2012, and veteran captain M.S. Dhoni will be leading the team during ODIs and T20s. Both sides have a great selection of players, making the series an interesting matchup at the very least.
