Engineering is one of the most demanding and popular choices amongst the youth in India. Every year huge number of students apply for various national and state level exam in India conducted by various authorities.
Engineering Education in India is managed and conducted through various central and state government authorities. The central government is responsible to establish broad education policies and for regulating and maintaining standards in higher education. There are several federal policies which serve as a guideline to the state government, which hold most of the schools and universities within their jurisdictions.
Engineering is a multidisciplinary course with various branches and subjects. There are many top engineering colleges in Mathura, producing extremely skillful and talented engineers.
G.L Bajaj group of institutions is one of the leading and top most college in Mathura offering undergraduate engineering programs.
India is the largest producer of engineers in the world.
Students mainly appear for JEE advance exam which is conducted annually for the admission into various undergraduate B-tech and integrated M-tech programs. On the other hand for enrolling into reputed colleges like IIT’s for pursuing MTECH, students have to appear for GATE examination which is a common entrance exam conducted for various engineering branches.
Engineering is a diversified field with various branches like it has-
• COMPUTER SCIENCE ENGINEERING
• MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
• AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING
• MARINE ENGINEERING
• CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
• AEROSPACE ENGINEER
• CIVIL ENGINEERING
• AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING
• BIOTECHNOLOGY…. etc
Every year nearly 150,000 students appear for engineering exams out of which 12000 are selected and rest are sorted by JEE mains which is conducted by central board of Delhi.
With increasing demand of engineering programs there are various universities and colleges offering fake degrees so in order to check the authenticity of the college lookout for the colleges which are approved by AICTE or you can even go on its website and check the list of fake universities. UGC releases every year list of fake universities on its website students taking admissions to any of the colleges must first check the affiliation and validity of the college degree.
Well as a whole not only talking about the engineering system in Mathura but there are some key challenges in engineering education in India which needs serious attention-
Challenge of proficiency in language- Most of the students are from remote areas and have studied in their local language since engineering is purely taught in English medium they find it difficult to understand.
Lesser exposure- It is another challenge most of the technical subjects require practical work and exposure in real life which is still missing.
Employability challenge- Out of total only 10-25% students graduates are employed by the industry.
Challenge of lesser industry interaction- Most of the colleges organize industrial visit for students to increase industry interaction whereas this is not the case in colleges mostly in rural areas. In rural areas hardly any kind of seminars or workshops are held by the colleges which makes students less interactive and are not up to date with the current market trends.
So these are some challenges in engineering education in India today, soon we would be able to overcome all the challenges.
