Engagement Marketing
I wrote about engagement Marketing in another post and if you're following my posts feel free to go back and take another look. I think engagement Marketing is important and powerful enough to touch on again. Sometimes it may seem like I'm writing the same post but they're actually different with different goals in mind. We're bombarded with information overload on a constant basis and sometimes need a reminder to stay focused, I know I do.
Engagement Marketing is talked about but rarely understood by most people because its an elusive subject. I'll try to break it down into laymen terms because the last thing I want to do is to further confuse any newbie that may be following my posts. All engagement Marketing means is is the degree that someone feels attached to what you're writing, your product, brand or service.
There are also Marketing sites that deal more with engagement marketing than other sites, for example I frequent this site because its engaging and what I like to call working Marketing sites. Whats the use of us wasting our valuable time on a dead site where the members are just spectators?.
If you're really Marketing you have to take into account your comment to post ratio, are other members actually reading your work? Are they giving your work some link love by clicking the Twitter and Facebook bookmark tabs? Are they actually spending enough mental energy to comment at all? I use all these variables as a tracking source. The bottom line is that when your content generates comments you get more traffic.
This is an important factor in your Marketing arsenal, figure it like this, more comments per post indicates that your audience is doing more of the talking and thats a good sign.

People post comments just for the sake of posting and not what they intended interest of reading. Do ou know comments are part of promoting who you are?

Good post Paul; I usually take time to measure the amount of comments and likes I get on a post, in order to know who I'm attracting or what I need to work on.

It's even more interesting when you get comments that are not a collection of 'great site", "interesting info", or variations on these 2-word comments. I think we can say we get less of these nowadays, it used to be the norm back when I got active here in 2010.
