The country’s well-known Digital Signature Certificate Certifying Authority (CA), e-Mudhra, has started applying the new guidelines issued by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA)for the issuance of digital signature. The applicants seeking the e-Mudhra certified digital signature are now required mentioning their mobile phone number in Digital Signature Application Form.

In addition, the applicants must use their active mobile number as the verification call will be made by e-Mudhra on that number and if applicant fails in attending the verification call, the DSC application will be canceled by e-Mudhra. This is really a good step and should have taken earlier to make the digital signature certificate issuance process transparent. There are many other changes that will be applied very soon by e-Mudhra.

And amongst them is the video recording for the Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate. This verification process is a revolutionary decision and will completely change the digital signature application process. Those who were processing in-eligible applications should have to stop their unfair activities when this new guideline comes into effect.

Class 3 digital signature is the highly secured digital signature certificate and issued for making the online communication where risk factor is high. Hence, the tough verification is required in order to ensure the transparency and authenticity in issuing this type of digital signature certificate. With the video verification, it will be easy to verify the applicant’s identity which was not easy with the earlier verification system.

The Registering Authority (RA) was earlier given the rights to authenticate the applicant’s identity. This freedom was misused by many RAs as they started putting their stamp and signature on the Digital Signature Application without verifying the applicant’s identity. Hence, CCA has brought this new video verification for the issuance of Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate.

Moreover, CCA has also introduced Aadhar based eKYC form using which paperless Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate could be issued. This step is an attempt to make Class 2 digital signature issuance process more easy and convenient. Now, a Registering Authority (RA) can issue Class 2 DSC to an individual by just validating his/her identity through Aadhar Card no.

The entire process will hardly take one or two hour to issue the digital signature certificate. Further, there will be no paperwork required for this process.
