Employee Engagement: Why It's Important And How To Achieve It

by Hridoy Ahmed Search Engine Optimization(SEO)

Employee Engagement: It is critical to the success of any business. Engaged employees are motivated and fully dedicated to their work. They strive to do the best they can as employees and are focused on making the company they work for better. They see the "big picture" and understand the role they play in promoting the company's vision. They are not only satisfied but are also motivated, engaged, and empowered.

Unfortunately, committed employees are in the minority. According to a Gallup poll, only one in three employees is actively involved at work, and that's not a good thing. Employees who are not engaged take down the morale of other employees. Additionally, disconnected employees are less productive and more likely to seek alternative employment.

Encouraging employee engagement should be a priority

How can employers help their employees to participate more? One way is to focus on improving your physical and mental health. Employees who make unhealthy lifestyle choices, eat an unhealthy diet, are overweight, don't exercise and don't handle stress well, lack the resources to participate in their work. That's why employers need to focus more on the health and well-being of their employees. According to an article in Employee Benefit News, employees are eight times more likely to be actively involved in their work when their employers emphasize health. Those are pretty impressive stats.

Employees who are not in good health are more likely to lose their commitment

Most employees deal with constant time constraints. Between work, dealing with young children, and possibly aging parents, it leaves little time for them to focus on their health and well-being. They may not eat a healthy diet and exercise enough, not to mention the constant stress they are under. These factors make it difficult for you to participate in your work. Employers can help by emphasizing health in the workplace. A healthy employee has more resources to participate in and is likely to be more productive as well.

Boost employee engagement with an emphasis on wellness

Companies that do not have the resources for a comprehensive wellness program can use less expensive methods to invest in employee health. Here are some ideas:

·       Publish an employee newsletter that offers tips for staying healthy and dealing with stress.

·       Recruit teachers who can demonstrate techniques for dealing with work-related stress, such as deep breathing exercises and meditation.

·       Encourage employees to move regularly throughout the day.

·       Turn an empty room into a library and fill it with books on stress management, nutrition, weight loss, and fitness.

·       Offer health screening programs to detect some of the most common problems that affect employee health, such as high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

·       Keep the lunchroom and vending machines free of junk food. Instead, offer fruit to employees.

·       The bottom line?

If you want better employee engagement, make sure your employees stay healthy. When you focus on health, employees know you care about them and that motivates them to go the "extra mile.
