Emergence Of Green Technology In Indian Logistics

Also known as the stock management system, an Inventory Management System is mainly a system in which you connect stocks, connections, and technology with one another. Typically, warehouse management pertains to the observation, control, and optimization of complex warehouse and submission systems. Besides management, warehouse direction, transportation, and preservation of assets are also some of the fundamental elements of warehouse management. These systems have numerous methods and means for managing the system, operating and optimizing strategies. All in all, the primary motive of warehouse management systems (WMS) is handling and optimizing all the internal workings.      

With the advent of technological advancement and introduction of warehouse management, Modern logistics parks in India have undergone a drastic transformation in past few years. The sellers need to respond to this demand by creating a modular system that allows the client to choose the settings and functionality they need. 

The modern Warehouse management systems have a modular framework wherein the specific performance is split into 3 groups: core functionality, extra functionality, and development modules. This allows the consumer to install only the modules which they need in place of the entire WMS. In case the consumer needs to extend the functionality of their system in the future to support new tasks, they could just add the necessary modules to their existing system and activate them in accordance with the info provided by the sellers. 

Way better than the traditional warehouse units, the modern WMS are flexible, agile, and precise in their working. Green technology has also helped to overhaul the modern day practices of supply chain management systems in India and many other countries. Let’s have a brief glance how green technology is transforming the WMS and Industrial real estate in India. 

Natural lighting systems: This is perhaps the best way to cut down energy requirements by a substantial amount. Solar power based light tubes not only reduce the power requirement but it also lower the construction costs. Made from a highly-reflective material, these natural lighting channels reflect sunlight in the entire inventory. 

Roof cooling systems: Unnecessary energy consumption can be reduced if you add some cooling systems to your roof. A simple paint coating around the roof’s cooling system can reduce the temperature by a substantial amount and increase the efficiency of the system multifold.    

Deploying controllable thermostat: Most residential and commercial properties have programmable thermostats but it is quite uncommon in warehouses systems in India and other countries till date. Energy usage in warehouse systems can be reduced by a good amount if the temperature of warehouses is maintained and regulated by a good amount. This will not only facilitate low electricity billing but also reduce health risks.

By attaching motion sensors to the lighting systems one can reduce the light usage in the areas where it is not required. Sensors are essential to minimize artificial lighting and increase the usage of natural lights within the warehouse, which can control the energy usage in warehouses by a substantial amount.  

With industries becoming highly dependent on warehouses systems to store their assets, it’s high time for warehouse managers to realize that revamping their traditionalist warehouses is now a dire necessity.
