Email Marketing During These Covid-19 Pandemic Times

by John Fostar Media Releation
As the corona virus gripped all verticals, and several businesses closed shop, consumers find themselves flooded with emails.

These emails are from all corners.

It is not just the grocery store they shopped from regularly, but also the microwave supplier they got in touch several years ago or even the holiday agent they contacted to book tickets the last season.

Every business has inundated everyone with corona virus updates, tips on how to stay safe, and what the store is doing to keep the virus away.

This kind of email deluge is raising questions about email marketing practices.

Emails are an effective strategy, even during this pandemic, but businesses must blend corona virus updates with their products/services promotional astutely.

The consumer will surely think, “I may not be able to order anything right now. But do you have anything relevant once all this is over?”

While the temptations for companies are strong to stay in touch with customers during these Covid-19 times, they must follow some best practices to prevent their emails from being scorned or laughed at.

Here are a few email marketing tips to stay afloat in business while at the same time staying in touch with customers.

Keep updating on how normal services will be impacted

Consumers are already suffering from information overload about the corona virus.

If you are planning to open your business if relaxations are put in place, give specifics about the measures you are going to adopt to keep them safe.

Use clear and precise language preferably by using bulleted points.

Provide information about online alternatives

Lockdown instructions are saying people must go out as little as possible.

Therefore, wherever possible, provide consumers with online options.

Grocery stores, restaurants, and retailers of consumer goods can arrange for pickups or home delivery after orders have been placed online.

If you are into yoga or fitness training, people can watch fitness videos or live instructions/demos via apps like Zoom.

Customize your language to suit the situation

There is no doubt that customers are anxious in these difficult times   and they need reassurance.

Keep in mind consumers could be stressed because they might have lost their jobs or one of their loved ones could be ill with Covid-19.

So this is not a good time to be overtly witty no matter how relevant it is for your brand.

Be positive and make use of humor only if it appropriate and reassuring.

Guide your consumers to your website

Do not make emails the only platform to provide information. Direct your customers to your web link too, where all information is easily available.

Do not use emails to re-engage customers

Your content marketing strategy or email marketing tactics should not be targeted to those customers that are presently not active on your buying list.

Sending emails to such customers may not be appropriate as they may be uncomfortable receiving them.

A good bet is to separate customers that have a current and active relationship with you.

Email is still a wonderful platform to reach out to your customers, but in these pandemic times leverage it judiciously.
