Eligibility criteria for JEE Mains 2016 Exam
JEE MAIN 2016 is a nationwide test conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education to select candidates for admission into the prestigious Engineering colleges of the country like the IITs, NITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). The Admission to these colleges is solely done on the basis of the JEE Main Examination and to appear in that examination, the candidate must have qualified the JEE Main 2016 Eligibility Criteria.
JEE Main is a national level test which is conducted both online and offline in the month of April 2016 for which the online application form might get released by the last week of November 2015 pertaining which the candidates will get more than a month to fill the Application form online upon visiting the official website of JEE Main. The offline examination for the JEE Main 2016 is scheduled to be conducted on the first Sunday of the month of April 2016 while the online examination will be conducted on various dates in either 2nd or 3rd week of April 2016.
The Application form will get released in the month of November and hence the candidates must keep in mind the following JEE Main 2016 Eligibility Criteria to be able to fill the Application form:
1. DATE OF BIRTH:
The candidates who are born after 1st October 1991 are eligible to fill the JEE Main 2016 Application form provided they fulfill the other criterions. For the candidates belonging to the Scheduled caste and Scheduled tribes and the physically disabled candidates, they have been given a relief of Five year in the date of birth. So those candidates who have taken birth after 1st October 1986 are eligible to apply for the JEE Main 2016 on pretext of producing he correct document in favor of them.
2. YEAR OF PASSING THE QUALIFYING EXAMINATION
The Qualifying examination here means the CBSE class 12th examination or any equivalent higher secondary examination or state board Intermediate examination.

- As per JEE Main 2016 Eligibility Criteria, Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examination i.e. respective board examinations of class 12th/intermediate in the year 2014, 2015 and 2016 are eligible to register themselves for the JEE MAIN 2016 Examinations.
- Candidates who gave the qualifying examination in the year 2015 but did not pass and are giving the re-examination in the year 2016 are eligible to take the examination.
- Those candidates who are not satisfied with their score in the board examination in the year 2015 and are wishing to take the improvement test in the year 2016 are also eligible provided the year of qualifying would then become 2016.
- Number of Attempts: The candidates must note that there would be only three attempts for passing the JEE MAIN 2016 Examination. The constitutional reservation also gets applied on the number of Attempts.
- The candidates must also have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to be eligible to take the JEE MAIN Examination 2016.
- According to JEE Main 2016 Eligibility Criteria norms, The candidates must also have secured at least 60% marks to be able to get counseled through central counselling board for admission into various technical colleges.
