Electric kettle- The Small Vessels of Utmost Leisure

by Tefal India Shop Kitchen Cookware Appliances in India

On a cold, shivering morning, waking up to a cup of tea, is heavenly! But, going all the way to the kitchen, lighting up a flame, at times, even wash that kettle from last evening, and after all, get a cup of warm tea- sounds exhausting, isn’t it?

Today, an electric kettle placed at the bedside table can give you that warm cup of tea on a winter morning in just a touch! Just boil a cup of water and place the tea bag- voila! Your bed tea is ready.

There was a time, up to the late 1920s when to boil water, you needed an open flame and a kettle. Time-consuming and outwardly inefficient, it was the only method at that time. This same method went on to be practiced for many millennia.

Then came into the picture, the miraculous device- electric kettles. The first kettle to use electricity to heat water came from Carpenter Electric Company in Chicago in 1891. Though back then, it used a whooping 10 mins to boil water. Another remarkable difference was that in those kettles, the heating element and the water were placed in different compartments, remarkably different as of now, where everything is in one compartment.

The long-lasting problem that posed the earlier manufacturer of electric kettles was, how to switch them off. Usually, when the kettle is plugged into an electric source, the electric current flowing through it moved within the metal coil which used to be placed usually either in the water or beneath it in another chamber. Hence, the coil and its inbuilt resistance converted the electrical energy into heat energy. Now, the kettle being in a closed environment, the temperature often rises quickly, and thus, water started boiling readily. The problem with this was that it did not cut-off the circuit automatically.

Now, with the advent of better technology and technical know-how, electric kettles were endued with their new face, where in, they could automatically switch off. Today, possibly, there is no such electric kettle in the market which lacks this automatic shut-off mechanism. This excellence is accredited to the invention of a UK engineer, John Crawshaw Taylor OBE FREng.

Some of the specifications which customers usually look for before purchasing an electric kettle are:

How fast is it?

As already mentioned, the surge in attraction towards electric kettles was due to their high speed to do the same work that would take a considerable amount of time in the traditional way. Mostly, electric kettles take 3-4 mins to heat the water of a standard amount, while there are even advertisements made of heating in 90secs.

Temperature range:

When it comes to tea connoisseurs, the optimal temperature is the most sought after for ringing out the perfect blend of the flavor of the tea. Not all tea has the same brewing temperature.

Appearance and size:

Being prominently used in modern households, electric kettles can be chosen in different sizes according to a different choice. Individuals living alone tend to opt for smaller sizes while families often go for considerably larger ones. The appearance of the electric kettle can also be a specification to be looked at!

The electric kettle has many uses. They are indeed easy to use and are very power efficient. They demand very low maintenance and has a lot to offer. One should go for an electric kettle this winter. Many sites are there which provides efficient electric kettles of varying capacity at totally affordable and reasonable prices. For more information visit here: https://www.tefal.in/
