If you have been living in India, you would know how difficult it is live here without an air conditioner, especially during the summers. The Indian summer can be quite harsh and AC is a necessity in every home. Today, there are several brands in India that offer different units to suit the different needs of the people, depending the room that you want to install the AC, you can buy a split AC or a window AC or if you want to cool the entire home, you can install a centralised unit.

Although the AC is an essential commodity, not many people take proper care of their units. The AC, just like any other home electronics requires regular maintenance and may need repairs from time to time. Even if you have installed the best AC spare parts in Bangalore, you may still need to take care of it to ensure that the machine runs in top condition for a long time. Here are a few important tips to take care of the common problem that may arise with your air conditioner.

Filter

One of the most common issues that many homeowners have is that after sometime their AC doesn’t function as effectively as it used to when they bought. This mainly happens because of the dirt accumulation in the filter. As you run the air conditioner continuously, over a period, it is inevitable that the filter would get clogged. Dirty filters not only reduce the free flow of air through the room but also it can cause the AC to freeze. Not to mention, it can sometimes lead to foul smell coming out from the unit.

Most manufacturers suggest that the filter be cleaned once in every three to four months. The best way to determine if the filter needs cleaning is to check if the light passes through it, if not, it would require cleaning. You can easily clean the filter simply by washing it with tap water and let it dry before installing it back.

Drainage

Just like the filter, the drainage pipes too can get clogged over a period of time. If dirt and dust accumulates inside the drainage pipes, it would lead to water leakage and if left unnoticed it can potential cause major damage to your air conditioner. To avoid this problem, it is always a good practise to clean the drainage pipes regularly.

Capacitors

The capacitors are one of the most important parts that power the AC, without the capacitor, the fans and the compressor will not function. It keeps the motor running. Constant usage of the AC can lead to wear and tear of the capacitor and if not maintained well it would burn out.

Fuse or the breaker

This is another important component of the AC that keeps the motor and the compressor protected from overheating. If you notice that your air conditioner is making unusual sound or the motor stops functioning completely, it may be because of the fuse failure. Usually, when there is an issue related to the motor, the technicians first check the breaker; and if it is worn out, you may need to replace it.

Leakages

Every AC unit has a coolant, which is the refrigerant. It is a very common that the AC sometimes will function inefficiently and the temperature will fluctuate. This happens because of the leakage in the air conditioner. If left unaddressed for long it can lead to costly repair, so it is advisable that you get the AC examined by a professionally trained technician in case of any temperature fluctuations. Make sure that you avail the annual services and if need be, get the best AC spare parts in Bangalore replaced.
