Easy Steps to Selling Your RV
Selling your RV doesn’t need to be a complex process, in fact in this article I am going to show you how easy it can be to sell your RV or motorhome. I will show you how I went about the process when I wanted to sell my RV earlier this year.
55% of all RV sales are done in the private sector by individuals just like you and me. Many people are often times surprised at this figure and yet it’s true. You are not alone in this endeavor of wanting to sell your RV. I remember the first time I wanted to sell my motorhome I didn’t know where to start.
So if you were like me and don’t know where to start here are my top 4 tips of how-to-sell your RV today.
- Clean up, tidy up, smarten up
First things first, you need to get your RV ready for viewing. Give it a good thorough wash, and not just the exterior but the inside as well. Set aside some time and give it a good cleaning. Change the seat covers on the inside if you have to; take out all your personal items such as clothes hanging in the cupboards, food tins in the kitchen cabinet etc, make it presentable.
- Set a good price
This is often the downfall of many aspiring sellers. Sentimental value does not merit you making your rig more expensive than other rigs on the market. In order for you to find a good selling price you need to do a bit of homework and take a look at what the going price for rigs similar to yours is. I tried skipping this step when I tried to sell my RV and went with a price from my head, I gave an amount that I thought my rig deserved and small wonder my vehicle went unsold for months until I looked into the market and saw that my rig was at least $5000 more expensive than my nearest competitor!
- Marketing
Once you have set your price, it’s now time market your vehicle and get people knowing that you are trying to sell your motorhome. This stage is so crucial to selling your vehicle and should not be taken lightly. You need to do everything you can to let people know. Get a professional ad done that you can get printed on flyers, post on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. When I tried to sell my motorhome I did it all, newspapers, online websites, social media platforms everything. I got favorable responses but couldn’t sell because of my high price as stated above
- Negotiating a sell and the Paper work
Fortunately I realized before I got too discouraged that I needed to change the pricing of my motorhome. I did and in no time I got a good buyer. When you get to this part make sure you have your documents ready for signing and transfer. Agree on a payment method and keep the vehicle until you have received all the funds or as agreed upon.
And that’s it. That’s what I did when I had to sell my RV.
