Easy & Effective Ways to Boost Your Immunity

by Saurabh Gupta Digital Markter

There is no denying the fact that one’s immune system remains vital to one’s health. It is our immune system that does the remarkable job of defending the body against germs and disease-causing microbes. Though the body holds the potential to automatically renew the immune system, we can still intervene and strengthen the system to fight off diseases better. That too for children, it is essential to improve their budding immune system. After all, runny noses, constant colds, and recurring flues attacking the kids remain a constant cause of worry for the parents. And who wouldn’t want their kids to have a strong immune system so that they can easily fight off the infections!

So here, we have brought forth for you today some relatively simple yet highly effective ways to help boost your child’s immunity. Read on.

Getting Adequate Sleep is the Prime Requisite

Time and again, so many studies have proven the link between sleep and immunity. Lack of sleep can make your child more susceptible to illness by reducing the effectiveness of the immune system. Too many activities with little time to sleep can make your child deprived of all his/her energy. In general, a toddler needs 11 to 14 hours of sleep per day, while preschoolers need 10 to 13 hours. Hence, allow your child to take intermediate naps whenever possible. If the child doesn’t take naps, try to make them go to bed earlier at night.

Fruits and Veggies are All Important

One of the best ways to boost immunity in kids is through improving their eating habits. Fruits and veggies are natural sources of nutrients and work best to improve the immune system. Opt for vegetables that are rich in vitamins A, C, and E such as sweet potatoes, carrots, and dark leafy greens. Green up their meals with Sulphur and B-complex rich vegetables like brussels sprouts, broccoli, and spinach to power up their immune system and strengthen their natural resilience. Citrus Fruits such as lemons, oranges, and grapefruit helps regulate the immune system and fight off infections more effectively. Get your child to eat at least 1-2 cups of fruits and veggies each day so that they get enough immunity-boosting nutrients. Also, instead of giving them packaged foods like chocolates, cakes, and cookies, give them healthy snacks like walnuts, almonds, and fresh fruit juices.

Let Them Indulge in Lots ofPhysical Activity

Boosting up your child’s immune system requires boosting up his/her physical fitness levels. Physical activities like playing, exercising, or cycling can be a great way to get your child’s immune system work efficiently. Moreover, whenever your child goes to play outside, he/she gets exposed to sunlight and gets a good dose of vitamin D, which is vital for boosting up the immune system. But simply insisting your child to indulge in physical activity won’t do. You have to be a good role model to get your child into a lifelong habit of exercising.

Raise the Intake of Probiotics

Probiotics are the friendly bacteria that are naturally present in our gut. They play a vital role in protecting our digestive tract, help in food digestion, assist in toxin release, and shield us away from invading microorganisms. When the gut microbiota balance is disrupted, it can impact the immunity levels of children. This is why giving enough probiotic foods or probiotic supplements can help improve the child’s ability to fend off infections. Yogurt, kefir, and curd are good natural probiotics that you can add to your child’s diet regularly.

We, at JP International School, the Best CBSE School in Greater Noida, understand that parents bear a crucial responsibility of ensuring that their kids stick to healthy life choices that help to keep them in the pink of health. However, we have often seen parents being worried about the food choices that their kids make when they are away from home, or say at school, for that matter. This is why we, at JPIS, have roped in an expert nutritionist to prepare a healthy diet plan for our pupils. We serve our students with highly nutritious meals during lunch which are prepared under expert supervision while taking complete measures to ensure hygiene and safety. At JPIS, we believe good food lays the foundation for good health, and when the same is coupled with the adequate exercising and proper sleep, kids are sure to grow strong with a robust immune system.
