Dr. Michael Omidi: - A Great Plastic Surgeon With A Golden Heart

by Eva Taylor Consultant

A Magna Cum Laude from the School of Medicine at the Saint Louis University, Dr. Michael Omidi has received numerous awards in his professional career spanning 22 years now but the appreciation and heartfelt gratitude that he has received from his patients all around the world is what matters to him the most. A down-to-Earth person he has also been awarded the Humanitarian Award twice in 2012 and 2013. Being a double-board certified practicing surgeon, he has his own private practice in the posh locality of Beverly Hills in California and is affiliated with three hospitals in California - the Southern California Hospital at Culver City, West Covina Medical Center at West Covina and the Southern California Hospital at Hollywood in Los Angeles. Dr. Michael Omidi obtained his degree in General Surgery from the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine at Chicago, fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery from Miami Children’s Hospital and fellowship in Plastic Surgery from the UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School.

Amidst his professional commitments and surgeries, one of his traits that is visibly distinct from other medical practitioners is the personal care and attention that he gives to each of his patients. In the medical world, it is common knowledge that doctors and surgeons are so tied up in their schedule that they do not have the time to listen to everything that their patients have to say. Doctors these days just rush through their appointments because they have back-to-back patients to see and surgeries to perform. Even when he is hard-pressed for time, Michael Omidi makes it a point to not only refer to medical tests and past history to understand the state of affairs of a patient but patiently interacts with each of his patients so that no critical point is missed out and the patient feels at home under his supervision.

The another aspect of his un-presuming nature is his dedication towards helping the needy and the downtrodden – people who are ailing but cannot afford modern expensive treatments. For his philanthropic work he has co-founded the No More Poverty, an NGO with his brother that works extensively in the field of pro bono missions to other countries, especially the under-developed nations of the world to treat a pediatric case of hand deformities, cleft lips, cleft palates and patients with head and neck tumors, breast cancers, burns and thyroid tumors. All these international trips are accompanied by qualified surgeons, medical practitioners, and trained nurses and are funded completely by Dr. Michael Omidi himself. A truly laudable personality with a golden heart!
