Doctor’s Day Off: Cruise Vacation Tips!

by HealthyMD - CME Medical Education & Doctor Wellness
Packing your bags for a cruise is a crucial part of preparation. However, because of major preparations, small important things sometimes get overlooked or forgotten. Of course, one wouldn’t forget preparing a full set of outfits for the cruise. Items such as medical and health supplies? Often, holiday goers tend to ‘ghost’ these items and only find out they didn’t bring any of the small necessities once they need and look for it. Doctors are known to be meticulous, but sometimes to err is human and you might overlook some things while packing for your medical conference cruise.

Here are 3 small yet important things you shouldn’t forget to pack for your next cruise:

  1. Sun Protection!

You will probably be spending most of the time on the deck, enjoying the nautical panorama. Besides, when you’re on a cruise ship, you probably want something completely different from your average staycation. While this seems to be a wonderful experience, you should be aware that there’s more to it than just enjoyment. Prolonged exposure to the sun and wind can be deleterious to your skin. Don’t forget to bring a bottle of sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and a stick of lip balm - regardless if you’re a man or a woman. Ensuring skin protection is better than suffering the consequences of sunburnt skin. All is not lost, of course, if you forget your sunscreen and lip balm because you’ll probably be able to buy them on board too, but they’ll be more expensive there so just keep that in mind.

  2. Motion Sickness Tablets and other Medications

If you’ve ever been on a boat ride you might already identify the deck as a swing. If you think you’re not a natural-born sailor, it is crucial to pack some antiemetic drugs or Scopolamine patches with you on your healthy MD CME cruise trip. Also, don’t forget stomach medication since you will probably eat in a buffet set-up most of the time on your cruise. Other over-the-counter medications like aspirin, cold pills and flu medicines can save you a lot of trouble if you pack them before you leave. As a doctor on a healthy MD CME cruise trip, you might encounter some patients who need them during the trip. It’s always good to have some handy with you.

  3. Pack the Right Clothes

When going on a medical conference cruise, make sure you enjoy it in style. However, you don’t need to pack multiple outfits with you. You can always bring basic pieces that can be mixed and matched and complement each other. You can also bring some extra pieces like swimwear and hats, but make sure to bring only set and that they serve their purpose. That way you can save space and avoid dealing with too much laundry when you get back home.

    Travel

When you’re traveling, it is really true that nothing beats being prepared. The mere fact of knowing that you’ve packed everything you need is a big factor that contributes to how much you can truly enjoy yourself on your medical conference cruise.
