If we don’t have apps for our smartphones, they will be nothing more than ordinary phones that make call or send texts. Of course they will give us the web access, but what else we can do with these smartphone without apps?

Apps give power to do a lot of things using smartphones. From ordering pizza to checking prescription status, a smartphone can only be handiest option if it has apps. These tiny software have changed our present but in future, they will have a completely new face, and look much different from today.

In a recently held summit - Mobile: Transforming Life and Business, hosted by the Mass Technologies Leadership Council, app developers discussed about what apps will be able to do and how they will look like in future. And how further evolution in mobile app development technologies will change our lives.

Here are some highlights of the event:

Future belongs to app

As estimation, smartphone users around the world download more than 190,000 apps per minute. As predictions are coming in light, there will be more than 50 billion connected devices by 2020. So with rising penetration of the mobile technologies in our present and future, users are able to do more with their smartphones and apps. The Internet of things seems more visible in coming years and many home and office devices may be put online with keeping mobile technologies and mobile application development in the core.

App integration

Smartphones have certainly received edge over PCs. And the only reason making them such popular is their ease of use. Developers are implementing such sorts of apps which can easily be used even by two-year-old kids. In future we will see integration of apps more with one another. It will help users completing single task in fewer strokes.

Take the example of a person who wants to go out for dinner. He should be able to find a restaurant on Yelp, reserve table through Open Table, and then ride to the location by booking taxi on Uber. For now he will need to use three different apps to do this task but in future, he could find a restaurant using one app which will suggest the second app to book a tablet and then the second one will suggest another app for book a taxi to reach the restaurant suggested by the first app. It will happen because of the integration of different apps with another.

UX is everything

For any product or service, consumer is the king and so is the case with an app too. If it doesn’t please the eyes of users, they will not use it even if it can help them in traveling through time. What I want to say is that if your app is not able to deliver desired user experience, users will not use it. These are the reasons why organizations should take all due time in designing UI and UX of a software because it is the first thing user interact with.
