by Philip Smith Inbound Marketing Manager

Bathroom is one of the most used spaces in our home. It makes perfect why homeowners these days want their bathroom design to be flawlessly gorgeous.

If you feel that the design or views in your bathroom are dull and boring, this blog will help you redesign your old bathroom into a dazzlingly beautiful bathroom with tiles. Here are a few tips to retile your bathroom –

  1. Gear up your tool box. Make sure it has these tools before you get started with your bathroom redesign and retile project – measuring tape, protective gloves and glasses, utility knife, carpenter’s level, hammer, chisel, tile saw and cutting tools, trowels, grout float, tile spacers, caulk, cloth pieces, cleaning sponges, buckets and bins.
  2. The materials you will need are – new tiles for your bathroom, self-leveling compound, backer board, thin set mortar mix, grout, and sealant.
  3. Measure the area to be tiled and order tiles as per your space requirements.
  4. Once you have received the tiles at your doorstep, it is time to start the bathroom redesign. Remove the old tiles using your hammer, knife, and chisel. Collect the waste in the bin and put it aside.
  5. Check the condition of the surface. Make sure it is in good condition and it does not have uneven areas. Achieve perfect level with the help of self-leveling compound or mortar mix. Allow the fixes to set and cure before tile application.
  6. Install backer board for durability, increased waterproofing, and insulation. Let it set too.
  7. Now is time to install tiles. Plan your tiling layout in advance.
  8. Cut the tiles for corners and obstruction using the right tile cutting tool.
  9. Apply thin set and place tiles as per the layout.
  10. Use tile spacers to achieve straight and clean tile joints and grout lines.
  11. Let the tiles set for day before grouting.
  12. Once the grout has set for 24 hours, seal it if required.

There you have it. Hope these stepwise tips help you redesign your bathroom.
