Different types of Goan Jewellery for Arms
by krishna kant sharma SEODespite being the smallest Indian state, Goa is the most favorite holiday and shopping destination among Indians as well as foreigners. Fashion events, designer launches and European settlers selling flunky jewellery, Goa has it all in its culture. The diversity is present so much because of hippies, Goans and other Indians who have shifted there and this diversity is perfectly visible in their art, crafts, attires and jewellery designs.
The jewellery designs these days are a fusion of traditional
and modern but in the Pre-Portuguese era, during the Kadamba dynasty the
designs on the ornaments mostly reflected cultural and art forms of that
period, seals of the dynasty or image of deities. These were later on modified
and merged along with the modern designs to suit the current trends. But still
there is a lot of demand for the traditional Goan jewellery which is
essential in many of the family events like engagements, weddings, ceremonies
and festivals along with the Goan traditional dress.
Apart from funky European and Tibetan
jewellery, Goan Traditional jewellery is also very much popular among
the tourists and residents both. It is said that Goan jewellery was
brought in front of the world especially to the Europeans by “DAIVADNYA
BRAHMINS” who were skilled jewellery designers, involved extensively in the
export of gold and silver. It is because of them, demand for these has risen.
From earrings, nose pins and bangles to necklaces and anklets, there is
jewellery available for almost every part of the body.
