Difference Between Karate And Kung Fu. Know More Inside

by Pravin Dwivedi Digital Marketing Expert

Have you ever wondered about the terms “Karate” and “Kung Fu”? If not, I am going to surprise you by telling you about the differences and virtues of both words in this blog.

Origin

Karate is a specific form of martial art rather than any skill or discipline. It has its origin from Japan and was developed from indigenous Ryukyuan martial arts. While Kung Fu is specifically a skill, profession, or study which has its origin in China. People often confuse these terms as synonyms, although they are of entirely different sources and characteristics.

Movements

The difference in movements is not far different from the difference between ‘Yoga’ and ‘Exercise,’ viz. Karate comes with specific activities, while Kung Fu has circular motions more chaotic than Karate’s moves. Let me discuss this in detail:-

Karate comes with a stop and goes motion, while Kung Fu is yet more complicated and comes with technique. It is recommended Karate is for kids, and Kung Fu needs to be under expert supervision. Karate has simple steps, while Kung Fu is art with complicated moves. Karate is an offensive martial art, i.e., focused on attacking, while Kung Fu is more about reacting to attacks. A kid can master these movements with online kids karate classes provided by experts.

Training

Karate offers three types of training: Kihon, Kata, and Kumite. Kihon is a primary or fundamental technique, to begin with, martial art, Kata is the next the step towards Karate, it is a detailed choreographed pattern of martial arts, and Kumite is more a freestyle fighting.

Kung Fu offers six training types: Internal, External, Soft, Hard, Qi Kung, and Qing.  Kung. Internal & Qi Kung is a practice of holding vital energy in the body that controls breath and improves blood circulation. While external/hard Kung Fu is for strength force Specialization. Qing Kung is training to learn to jump higher and farther. And Soft Kung is all about training the softness, twist angle of joints, neck, and waist. Kids Karate courses online provide an excellent platform for such training.

Conclusion

Finally, you now know the fundamental differences between two Karate and Kungfu. It doesn’t end here, there is a lot to read about both the martial arts and induce a desire to practice any of the two in your life. Karate and Kung Fu, though, are different in many aspects, at the same time there is a similarity in both is they build discipline in life and offer mental and physical benefits.

So, at last, I would conclude Kung Fu and Karate are yet challenging and protecting but of great help if practiced efficiently and correctly. Karate and Kung Fu are the best Martial arts practices, but posture and movements matter a lot. I hope this blog helped you in knowing the differences between Kung Fu and Karate. Thanks for reading!
