Difference Between Commercial CCTV And Domestic CCTV
by Moqtadir R. BloggerThere
are technical differences between a domestic CCTV and a commercial CCTV. The
later has more powerful features and offer you better outputs.
CCTVs are important parts of any security
system. Often people considered CCTVs as the entire security system which is
wrong. It is just a part of a huge system to provide your property with the
best security. CCTVs are mostly seen in commercial properties like shopping
malls, hotels, restaurants, shops, hospitals, banks, gyms and schools. On the
other hand, there are many houses where you can see these cameras as a part of the
domestic security system. There are some
differences between a commercial CCTV
and the one used in domestic properties.
What Is CCTV Camera
CCTV
means a closed-circuit camera. It is a
television system without the option of public distribution of the signals.
Rather in this system the footage is
recorded and monitored for surveillance. This is an integral part of the modern security system. Both commercial and
domestic properties can have this system,
but the use of CCTV is more common in commercial places rather than the
domestic ones.
One
or multiple cameras are set in various places strategically to get a clear picture of a certain place and then they
start recording the activities of every object which comes visible on that
particular area.
Why It Is Necessary
It
allows you to monitor a certain place even when you do not have any manual
security for the same. In the case of
domestic CCTV, you can get a complete view of your house, its entrance of rooms
when you are not in your home.
For
offices and other commercial properties,
these cameras play the role of security guards and let the security officials
get all the pictures of the entire place for 24x7 with both audio and sound
effects. No matter whether you have any security guard present in that
particular part of the building or not, the camera is recording everything for
monitoring. You can see the footage anytime you want and get information about
certain incident or activities.
What Are The Differences
Let’s
see these differences to understand how both the devices serve their individual
areas and help the users to get the best result.
Cover
Larger Areas
The
manufacturers of CCTV cameras always keep in mind the sector for which they are
preparing the product. When the camera is designed and prepared for commercial
properties they make it for larger usage. Commercial places are generally
larger than any residence. Hence the camera needs to cover larger places. On
the other hand, the domestic cameras are prepared to cover smaller areas like
the entrance of the house or the bedrooms and kitchen.
Constant
Usage
The
commercial CCTV cameras have to
record the data of a longer time period. They
almost run for 24x7. Hence, they must have the capacity to run long and offer
uninterrupted recording for a longer
period. Thus, they are designed to be switched on for day and night; nonstop. When
it comes to domestic CCTV, it is not designed to be active for such long hours.
Thus, the recording and storage capacity of these cameras are shorter than
their commercial counterparts.
Image
Quality
In
the case of commercial cameras, you can
obtain superior image quality of every incident. They are able to record images
with high resolution which can allow the security officers to get a clear
picture of objects. But in the case of
domestic CCTV, you cannot expect that high resolution. They are designed for
smaller places with limited resolution.
Audio
Capacity
Just
like the image quality, the audio capacity is also better in the commercial
CCTV cameras in comparison to that of a domestic
CCTV. In case of hearing the recorded voice, the commercial device will
help you in a better form than the domestic device. It can record the sounds
clearly and accurately. On the other hand, a domestic CCTV is not able to offer
such clear sounds with the visual recordings.
Price
Of The Device
With
such high-quality features, a commercial CCTV comes with a higher price tag than the
domestic ones and it is quite understandable. The commercial CCTVs are
expensive because of their superior features and effective outputs. On the
other hand, a domestic CCTV comes with a lower price tag because they have some
common features.
Some
Common Features
There
are some common features that you can get in both these types of cameras. Features
like infrared, pan, zoom, tilt and others can be seen in both these cameras.
Again you need to remember that the more advanced features a camera has, the
more costly it will be.
Conclusion
Both
domestic CCTV and commercial CCTV
cameras are built with similar technologies but there are differences in the
features. These differences make the output different as well. This is the
reason, the camera you can easily use in your bedroom to monitor the activities
of your maid in your absence is not the right device to monitor a shopping
mall’s entrance. The later demands a more powerful device with some greater
features.
