For all those who have been racking their brains, Dave Filoni is here to clear all your doubts. Co-creator and supervising director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Dave Filoni has stepped in to talk about the Order 66 plot hole, that’s depicted in the final season. The last season was presented a few days ago on Disney+.

Dave Filoni Throws Light On Order 66 Plot Hole Of Clone Wars Season 7

In Clone Wars season 7, the makers tried to add another tinge of salt to the plot, by offering a new version of Order 66. The new order is from the viewpoint of Jedi, Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. After the Order is given, viewers can find plenty of changes in the plot. Rex is struggling hard against his programming to murder Jedi. At the end of all this struggle, Ahsoka comes to help when she looks for the chip and removes it, thereby cancelling his impulse to follow Order 66. Years later, in Star Wars Rebels, Rex gives a different explanation of the incident to Kanan and eliminates the important details in the storytelling. This, perhaps, creates a plot hole.

Filoni is up with showcasing details of the season and the new changes. The Clone Wars’ last and final season is loaded with tons of twists. In an interesting interview with Nerdist, the supervising director chatted about all these aspects and more. The conversation included the mention of Rex’s chip removal incident. In Rebels, when Rex attempts to explain his chip removal to Kanan, he misses out the minor details. He didn’t speak a word about Ahsoka’s contribution. With this, it is believed that the incident occurred before Order 66 was given. To clear the confusion, Filoni says that the brief explanation given by Rex to Kanan was appropriate.  He tries to assert the importance of choices.

Moreover, there is no need for Kanan to know every side of the story. If Rex explains only the relevant fact about the incident, that’s because Kanan doesn’t need to know everything. For that time, that much of conversation was sufficient.

Star Wars had its first season in 2008, and since then, there have been several plot holes in the journey. Once when Obi-Wan refused to tell Luke about the complete story revolving around father and Darth Vader, he uses the phrase “from a certain point of view” as reasoning. Now, when Rex got his chip removed, he gives only a short explanation to Kanan. Here also, it is “from a certain point of view”. However, Filoni refuses to call it a plot hole.

Thankfully, The Clone War season 7 casts light on what actually happened in Rex’s chip removal incident. The event was disturbing, and it wasn’t as simple as told by Rex to Kanan. There was chaos all around. Ahsoka helped Rex to some extent in the entire struggle. The conversation exchange between Rex and Kanan now becomes clear, as it is understood that Rex didn’t want to run down the memory lane and recall the incident. Yet, to the viewer’s great surprise, this one looks tiny in front of the much bigger and relevant plot holes in the Clone Wars.
