Cut off Marks of UPSEE 2015 Exam

by Chandan Singh Blogger
UPSEE 2015 Cutoff would be issued by Uttar Pradesh Technical University to delimit the number of candidates in the admission process for allotment of seats in engineering professional UG courses such as B.Tech or B.E. in the government or private colleges of the state. It is basically a selection parameter which is set as per the marks of the candidate in the examination. If the candidate clears the cutoff, then he will be called for the next rounds of admission that are counselling and seat allotment.
Cutoff is the minimum marks a candidate must obtain in the examination to be selected further. If a candidate  aquire less than the cutoff marks then he/ she shall be dropped. However, if the marks of the candidate are equal to or more than the cutoff, he shall be selected for the next rounds of admission such as counselling and allotment. This process is applied for selection of the best lot of candidates to ensures that only eligible candidates is considered for selection process.

Factors which govern UPSEE 2015 Cutoff Score

Some of the factors which are considered in decision of the cutoff are mentioned here. UPTU will be very strategist in deciding the cutoff so that only best candidates make it through to the next rounds.

  •     Number of the applications received
  •     Total number of seats
  •     Seats in particular course
  •     Number of candidates who attempted the exam
  •     Total number of colleges participating in the process
  •     Exam difficulty level & marking scheme
  •     Seat matrix of existing occupancy
  •     Last year admission trends

All the selected candidates will be arranged in a merit list on the basis of the scores obtained above the Cutoff of UPSEE 2015. The candidate with marks equal to cutoff score will be placed at the bottom of the list. The rank which corresponds to this candidate will be called as cutoff rank. This process when taken in reverse gives us the information that the candidate with highest marks will be placed at the top of the list hence allotted the rank 1. This candidate with highest marks will naturally get the preference from board in allotment of the seat. All the merit listed candidates will mark the options of college and courses in the counselling round.

The next and final step is allotment which would be done as per the merit list ranking, availability of seats, reservation norms, and resultant seat matrix. In 2014, the cutoff marks were decided as 25% of total marks for general category candidates while it was 20% of total marks for SC/ST category candidates. Cutoff scheme will be applied for different categories of the candidates. Also, the selection of the reserved category candidates will be done on the seats kept separate for them. Usually, the cutoff doesn’t alter by a considerable difference unless there is a major difference in the examination or marking scheme. So we can expect the Uttar Pradesh SEE 2015 Cutoff to vary positively by 5-7% in 2015.

You will be able to see the cutoff after the results are declared. For checking the cutoff, you would be asked to visit the official website of UPSEE 2015. It will give you an idea of the opening and closing cutoff of various courses as well.
