Cruise Restrictions To Take Note Of

by Kosher River Cruise Kosher Tour Operator
Cruise lines are a wonderful opportunity for everyone to enjoy a completely relaxing and tension-free vacation. To ensure smooth sailing for everyone, however, cruise lines tend to adhere to strict rules with regard to things you can do on the cruise as well as things you can bring with you.

These restrictions not only ensure the safety of all on board, but they make sure that passengers, especially those of specialty or customized cruises such as Jewish trips, get to travel more securely.

Here are some guidelines to help you prepare for the trip:

  1. You can’t bring heat-generating devices

For those who are looking forward to curling or blowing their hair dry while on the cruise, know that cruise lines typically do not allow heat-generating hairstyling tools on-board. If you’re planning to bring a curling iron or hair dryer with you on your cruise trip, better check with the liner first.

  2. You can’t fly your kite or your drone

As much as the trip will consist of sights to behold even while simply traveling along a calm river on a river cruise, camera-equipped drone devices or “drones” are typically not allowed to be flown while the boat or ship is moving. Also, as lovely as the breezes will be while at sea, flying kites are typically not allowed. Once you have docked on to the port, however, it will be fine to do so on land.

  3. You can’t wear or bring anything with wheels

Because of the nature of cruises and how you will always be moving (except for when you’re docked at a port, of course), wheeled items are likely to cause trouble since the person wearing or using them might roll off into danger. Hoverboards, skateboards, roller skates/rollerblades, and scooters are just some of the personal items that are restricted. Motorized scooters, strollers, and wheelchairs, however, are exempted.

  4. You can’t bring your own supply of hard liquor or beer

Cruises are typically all-inclusive, meaning refreshments including alcoholic beverages will be served on the ship or boat. Bringing of your own supply of such beverages such as hard liquor or cans/bottles of beer are usually not allowed. Wine and soda, however, may be allowed for some in controlled quantities. If you’re planning on bringing your own supply of any beverage along with you on your trip, it’s best to check with your liner first if it’s allowed and if there are corkage fees.

  5. You can’t wear overly-casual clothes

It’s a given that vacations are casual, but many cruises are very particular about their dress codes while on the ship or boat, especially when it comes to dining at the restaurants or visiting the onboard bars or places for entertainment. Passengers are generally advised to forego flip-flops and tank-tops in favor of “resort casual” wear.

  6. You can’t shake hands with the captain

As a safety precaution to avoid the spreading of any viruses, shaking hands with the captain is usually not allowed by cruise lines anymore. There is a great chance, however, that the cruise will provide you with a scheduled meeting with the captain if you want to ask any questions.

It is important to note that there are different restriction guidelines for every cruise, and it is always a great idea to call your cruise line in advance to ask them about what is and what isn’t allowed on the ship or boat.
