COVID-19: Amid Dip In Cases, BMC Ponders Shutting Remaining Jumbo Centres
by Suraj V. Digital Marketing (sr. SEO Expert)With the daily COVID-19 cases
dwindling in Mumbai,
curtailing the hospital occupancy as well, reports claim that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is pondering
over dismantling the remaining COVID-19 jumbo facilities in the city.
Presently, exclusive of the coronavirus centres,
three jumbo facilities are
functioning. These are located at BKC, Malad and Kanjurmarg.
Accounts claim that with cases falling, the majority of
these centres do not have enough patients to justify their operations since
their average operational costs are also significant. Further, with an
improvement in the coronavirus condition, the civic body is considering
dismantling the remaining centres and moving the equipment to the civic
hospitals.
Additional commissioner, BMC, Sanjeev Kumar, was quoted in a
narrative by the Indian Express elaborating on how they are planning to close
the remaining centres, however, he added that before arriving at a decision
they will talk to the COVID task force.
Earlier in March, the civic authority closed down the
centres in Dahisar and Mulund.
Following this, the NESCO centre in Goregaon was
also shut down, reports mentioned.
Apart from medicines, the jumbo centres come equipped with
ICU beds, ventilators, BiPAP machines, and monitors, amongst others. It has
been reported that now the jumbo centres are moving their equipment to civic
hospitals.
