Common Commercial HVAC Problems

by Kevin Smith Author

Your commercial HVAC system in Alpharetta is meant to keep building temperatures consistent. However, problems with it can impact work productivity and monthly energy bills. If you experience strange odors, strange sounds, or an inefficient system, it may need to be repaired by an HVAC service technician. However, here are some of the most common commercial HVAC problems that you should be on the lookout for.

Poorly Maintained

If you poorly maintain your building's HVAC system, its expected for issues to pop up. When an HVAC system doesn't undergo regular maintenance checks and repairs, the system can end up failing entirely. However, when you regularly maintain your HVAC system, you can ensure it works as efficiently as possible. Once you let your system go, it can end up costing you hundreds of dollars in repairs, or worse, you'll need to buy a completely new system.

Thermostat Issues

Although when problems start popping up with the heating air conditioning in your building, it's easy to blame the HVAC system, but sometimes it's something completely different. Issues with the thermostat in your building can prompt HVAC problems such as inefficient warm or cool air. Before resorting to fixing, ensure that the thermostat in your building isn't broken first.

Dirty Filters

Unfortunately, dirty filters can prevent your HVAC system from working as it should and potentially increase monthly energy costs. However, when you monitor your system regularly and routinely replace dirty filters, you can improve the air quality in your building and ensure no dust or air pollutants affect you or your staff.

Leaking Refrigerant

Refrigerant is an important liquid that your HVAC uses to make cool air. The refrigerant works to both dehumidify and cool air for the air conditioner of your HVAC system. However, if your HVAC doesn't have enough refrigerant, it can't do its job effectively. A common reason your HVAC system doesn't have enough refrigerant is because it's leaking. It's important to get a technician to repair this leak to prevent you or your family from being exposed to refrigerant.

Poor Airflow

Before warm or cool air seeps into each room of the building, it travels through air vents. However, when these vents get clogged with dust, dirt, and other debris, it prevents good air flow throughout the building. If you notice poor airflow from your HVAC in Alpharetta, make sure that the air vents are being properly cleaned and nothing is blocking the interior of the vents from providing a good flow of warm or cool air.
