Colts' T.Y. Hilton blames play-calling
The Indianapolis Colts find themselves playoff Hakeem Nicks Jerseyoutsiders after their first-ever home loss to the Houston Texans last Sunday, a defeat that put the Texans in first place in the AFC South. In dropping three straight games, to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Texans, the Colts totaled just 36 points, with only two offensive touchdowns (a third came on a fumble return). Seven turnovers certainly haven't helped, but the defense has gotten six takeaways in the span. At least one http://www.coltsonlineofficialstore.com/Hugh-Thornton-Jerseyoffensive player is laying blame for the Colts' issues on coaching. “The throws have been there, but we just haven’t been calling them,” receiver T.Y. Hilton told the Indianapolis Star. “It’s more the play-calling.” The Colts fired offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton after their loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 8, http://www.coltsonlineofficialstore.com/Jack-Mewhort-Jerseypromoting Rob Chudzinski to play-caller. Hilton pointed to Chudzinski's conservative approach, saying he's not taking advantage of the team's speedsters to try to put defenses on their heels. "We're not really using us: Donte (Moncrief), me, Phillip (Dorsett)," Hilton said when asked why the Colts haven't been getting yards in recent games. "We're fast guys and we're not going down the field how we're supposed to. We're running stick routes, chain routes. I mean, you can do that, but at some point, you have to take your shots to get the defense back." Indianapolis had just 190 yards of offense against the Texans last week, with Geoff Schwartz Jerseyquarterback Matt Hasselbeck throwing for 147 yards on 32 pass attempts, an anemic 4.9 yards per attempt; on the season, the Colts are averaging just 6.4 YPA, 31st in the league. Last year, when they had one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, with 78 plays of 20 or more yards, their YPA was 7.7, seventh in the league. “It’s hard because we’re not taking shots down the field, so they’re just sitting at the chains waiting for http://www.footballgiantsprostore.com/Harry-Carson-Jerseyus to break, and they’re breaking, too,” Hilton said. “We just have to start taking shots down the field and loosen up the defense and get us open... “Once we start taking shots, it will loosen up the run game and the passing game. Instead of it being five, six, seven (defenders) in the box, it’s all 11. They’re just waiting.” The Colts play on the road against the Miami Dolphins this week.
