Colour Pairing Is Now Made Easy
Colours and pairing them
together seems quite a difficult task, but it is simple. If you keep an eye on
what simply looks good together, you are a great pairing. Of course, skin tone,
clothes, accessories, all come into play, but is it what needs an eye, what essentially
you are comfortable with and like wearing, that look great together. I like to
refer these pairing as complementary, monochromatic, and neutrals paired with
colours.
COMPLEMENTARY
As far as complementary
colors go, they really are absolutely contrasts and they play off the intensity
of each other, which is why they look great together. Well now we will see how
complementary colors work. So, let us pair two contrasting colors together.
·
Let’s
start using a chubby stick on the eyes, a bright pop orange. Start by applying
this quite gently, but generously across eye lid. Use your fingers as a must
just to soften off the edges.
·
Well,
here a lip product is used, it’s a chubby stick, but the fact that it is really
soft and it gives a lot of play on the eyes is what is great about it.
·
Just one thing to remember that
when you are using products that are not meant for the eyes, proceed with a
caution - wear a little bit on a day that you are not going out, to try that
look out and if you have any irritation or a rash, then stay away from it.
·
Just make sure that every now and then you check
out for lines and then simply dab the excess off, to give it a smooth finish.
·
Now what really works well with orange in contrast
is blue because it is exactly on the opposite side of spectrum of colours.
·
So, draw a line using a navy blue Liquid liner from
a good company. Keep a professional brush handy just in case you miss a spot.
·
Now to intensify the Blue a little bit, use the
extreme eye liner just in the inner corner. This is in huge trend right now, to
use really nice vibrant blue liner in the inner corner and you can even do it
with smoky Eyes. Smoothly blend both with eyeliner brush and repeat the same on
the other eye.
·
Now just add a coat of mascara on the top lashes
just to compliment the eyeliner.
·
And take more of the orange chubby stick and take
on a bit of it on a small blush brush and just dab it on like a cream brush on
the cheeks. Don't go too intense with the colour, as there would be a lot of
this colour on the face. It would be just like a sun kissed effect on the face
with the blush.
TIP: Don't start
with too much of the product, because if we use too much then it will be hard
to blend off as it is a cream product over a powder. So you should make sure
that you use a small amount at first and then build up to get the effect you
want to achieve.
·
Now with the orange pop, the same chubby that you
used across the face, put a big hit of colour and then Dab it off so that there
is enough of orange. Just a soft dab and there will be a good remainder of
orange that will give you a nicer effect.
So use orange and blue both on the eyes. You can do
it anyway across the face. You can even do it with a bright red mark with
a green eye shadow that looks good too. Basically, Complementary colours are the
colours that look striking as soon as you see them put together.
MONOCHROME
Monochromes are different shades of the same colour
and they look fantastic when they are used because of their stellar sophistication.
Well now let us work on a monochrome look, using a golden colour.
·
Let us use a golden lip glaze to start. Use a small
dab on the eye lids as a cream base. The reason for doing this is to get the
intensity of the gold when applying it on her lids to be really metallic.
·
And when using a gloss or something creamy, there
is a base and you can get a good hold of the product.
·
You can use this glaze or a lipstick but small
amount, so it shouldn't grip with the gloss.
·
So now use a soft Petal brush to apply gold
eyeshadow from the goldmine palette and pack the colour in so that it looks
really rich and metallic. Now work within the crease and don't go past the
crease. Do the same on the other eye.
·
Remember that when you use flat brush, the
intensity is Greater of the colour and if you use rounded brush then you can soft
the diffused effect. Here the aim is to create a solid and strong eye, which is
why the pettal brush is used right along.
·
Also, use the bronze right here, just to rub the
eye on the bottom Lash with it.
·
To manage the spill uses the compact powder. Like
always wrapping metallic products into a Matte product is always fantastic, so
use a flawless finish compact.
·
Just use it over the crease to clean up around the
metallic gold although it is not a very evident crease it matifies the crease
so that the gold stand out.
·
Now fill lots of mascara really dark. Now just contour
the face, as there is a huge bronze effect all over. So use the same compact to
soften the bronzal effects following the hollows of face.
·
So once you have the bronzal done highlight the face
with a blush a little bit. Just blend it in with the contour created. So you
can see a nice contrast here with the matte and the gold.
·
To add an extra dimension here, put the gold
eyeshadow very close to the bottom of your eye. Just where the light catches
the face, add a light dusting of the gold. Blend it in the cheeks.
·
Take a small amount of the gloss on hand and put it
on the Apple of her cheeks just to give it a kind of wetness so it looks glossy
instead of powdery and blushy. But be careful not to put too much and not to
make it shine heavily. Our aim is to give a creamy quality to the makeup.
·
Now to finish up the look, use the gold gloss on
the lips, a very generous amount of it.
Going monochrome with colour like this is just like
going flattering on the skin.
NEUTRAL
Another great pairing is neutral with any bright
colours. What this does is drawing attention to your favorite feature.
·
Begin using an extreme eyeliner pencil in olive. Just
run a good amount of this colour into the eye. Make sure you get enough of it
between the lashes as well, as firstly you don't want to miss any spot and
secondly it helps when you start smudging the product.
·
Smudge a good amount of olive eyeliner pencil even
on the top and get a bit of it on the corner as well so that you have a good
amount of product to create any shape you want.
·
Using a smudging brush out the green, sweep over a
matching Khaki eyeshadow so just take enough colour on the brush to make that
Pop.
·
Sweep that colour over the lash line and then
softly towards the crease. You don't want any harsh lines, just the showcasing
of the colour across the eyelid is needed.
·
Colour the bottom lash line using the same brush
and colour, so there you have really distinctly coloured Eyes which can be
finished off by using a thick coat of mascara.
·
So the whole point here is pairing a neutral with a
colour, so keep the rest of the face very neutral, neutral lip, neutral
cheeks and coloured Eyes.
·
So, use Flawless Finish Foundation BlueHeaven
compact powder and just add a small gentle contour over the cheeks
only. Now finish off this look with a neutral lipstick called “Barely there”
and a touch of Glaze called sparkling cinnamon.
·
Well in this look, as you can see the focus is on
the eyes and the lips are neutral but you can also switch them around and go
with bright lips and neutral Eyes.
I think this post has been helpful and pairing of
colours will be simpler for you the next time when you go shopping around.
