Early Move to Professional League

How Long a College Baseball Match Takes?


The total time that a college baseball match will last depends on several factors. However, most of the times, the Major League games last nine innings and last up to an average of three hours. Minor league and Collegiate Baseball also last for nine innings. 


Official vs. College Baseball Rules


Most of the rules of college baseball are similar to that of the Official Baseball Rules. Some of the exceptions include:


  • The bat can be made of wood or a material that meets NCAA standards.

  • The designated hitter rule is there. 

  • The player may serve as both pitchers as well as DH.

  • A mercy rule will be in use. It can terminate play when one team is ahead by 10 or more runs after seven innings.

  • An automatic ejection is there for maliciously running into a defender who's trying to tag a runner. An instant replay may be used to determine if it was a malicious slide.
