An excellent alternative for people who love the warm, rich color of gold, but can’t afford its price tag, brass is becoming a popular metal for jewelry making. This swap however comes with some minor care instructions.

Not a fan of water, brass is easy to tarnish and retains water spots which damages even the most intricately designed piece of jewelry. While store-brought cleaning solutions can be used on brass, it’s better to use natural means of cleaning and maintaining your brass jewelry. Follow the all-natural cleaning hacks below;

Natural Cleaning Hack#1: With Soap and Warm Water Solution

Cleaning your brass jewelry with this natural method is by far the easiest and hassle-free cleaning hacks. All you need is warm water and a small amount of soap. Liquid dish soap will do just fine. Using a soft brush (or your fingers), start by gently scrubbing soapy water on the surface of your jewelry.

Rinse the item thoroughly with clear water and make sure soapy residue is washed off. Brass is a temperamental metal. Therefore, be sure to dry the item well.

Natural Cleaning Hack#2: With Ketchup & Worcestershire Sauce

This cleaning hack might seem a bit odd, but ketchup isn’t only good for smothering in your hamburgers. In fact, Worcestershire sauce helps removing the disgusting layer of grime covering your jewelry just as well.

Gently rub either Worcestershire sauce or ketchup across the item using a soft bristled toothbrush. Let the piece of jewelry sit for a minute or two.  Rinse the jewelry under running water (make sure all sauce residue is washed off). You can repeat this method again if the piece of jewelry isn’t looking as clean as you’d like. Again, remember to dry it well.

Natural Cleaning Hack#3: With Salt and Lemon

This cleaning method is slightly similar to the lemon juice in water technique. Here, you’ll be using the lemon itself to clean your brass jewelry. Cut half of a lemon and sprinkle salt on the open side (not the skin). Lemon and salt are both active agent which means you’ll be cleaning the toughest grime away from the brass jewelry.

Natural Cleaning Hack#4: With Vinegar, Salt, and Flour

Vinegar is well known in the DIY cleaning hacks world. Combine with 1 teaspoon of salt with ½ cup vinegar and sprinkling of flour. The resulting paste becomes quite an effective grime and dirt remover. Leave the paste on your piece of jewelry for around 10 minutes, rinse with warm water, and then dry thoroughly.

The above cleaning remedies are incredibly cost-effective and a much safer alternative of cleaning the bracelet you ordered from Nomad Tribe. Best of all, these cleaning hacks are completely natural. This means you won’t be harming the environment by using harsh chemicals.
