Choosing the Perfect Clothing Gear for Your Marathon Charity Walks

by Kristen White Blogger
Preparation is all you need to get right on the actual walking day. While most people go wrong on what to pack, here is a guide to getting the right clothing gear for a charity walk.

Charity racing or walking needs sufficient preparation or else it may end up to be a total failure. The distances set for the walks may be undeniably long which is why you have to get everything ready before the actual day. Knowing your busy schedule, you can commence with these preparations weeks before just to make sure that you are enjoying the entire activity. Starting from the right clothing according to the weather to buying new sneakers and no tie elastic shoelaces, this preparation needs a lot of thought. Getting the wrong sneakers and the wrong clothing gear is among the common mistakes that most people make and end up regretting them during the walk. Here is how your preparation for a charity walk or run should look like.

Avoid Synthetic Clothing

Our bodies generate a lot of heat during exercise. To manage the heat, less clothing could be a better idea. While choosing the kind of clothes to pack for the day, avoid synthetic or cotton made clothes. While cotton is comfortable to wear for everyday use, it is a hindrance to your running performance and comfort because it is water-loving. Pack light clothes and lightweight sneakers.

Prepare For the Hostile Cold Weather

Having the event scheduled in a cold season should not be a turn off to the participants. With the right clothing gear, you can handle the pressure that comes with walking in the cold. Pack long-sleeved shirts that could be adjusted if the weather changes. You can, however, go for the three-layer clothing if the weather is extreme and the cold is unbearable. Pack your shirt, vest, and jacket that you could use during the event. You may also want to carry a hat with ear buffs as you do not want that cold wind hissing down your ear and giving you chills.

Be Conscious of Warm or Hot Weather Conditions

Less clothing is best advised for a charity walk in hot weather conditions. Just ensure that you have your shorts with you and maybe a vest or a sports bra will do for the race. Too much clothing might leave you dripping in sweat thereby slowing you down from walking with your mates.

Essential Items to Pack

There are a few supplies that you should not forget to pack. Some caps and shades for protection from the scorching sun can be helpful during your walk. Do not also forget to pack your own water bottle as thirst is a key demand during those walks and you may need to rehydrate frequently to stay fresh. It is also not that bad to anticipate the future and pack some protective gear from rain. This is especially very important to people with allergies to cold or has asthma. Lastly, you have to get your sneakers right, ensure they are the right size. If you do not have training sneakers then may be it is the time that you purchase a pair and no tie elastic shoelaces to make your walk successful right through the event.
