by Pallavi Goswami content writer

Ghee is one of the most treasured foods in Ayurveda and in India, it is considered sacred and used in religious rituals. Ghee, also famous as clarified butter, contains several therapeutic properties which can be used for treating several serious health conditions. There are many people who get worried about cholesterol in ghee. This article will focus on the relationship of ghee with cholesterol.

As per nutritional analysis, pure ghee contains 47.8% of saturated fats which has long been a matter of concern for increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The American Heart Association recommends having to limit the consumption of saturated fats to less than 7% of energy. Now the latest discovery is that ghee seems not to trouble the cholesterol levels when taken in moderation. Pure cow ghee is pure butterfat that has no trans fats in it.

There are two types of cholesterols present in the human body

  • Low-density lipoproteins (LDL)

  • High-density lipoproteins (HDL)

When you have ghee in moderation, it actually helps in lowering the bad cholesterol (LDL) level and maintaining a healthy heart. Ghee contains healthy kinds of saturated fats that don’t cause oxidation. Try to replace your regular oils with ghee nutrition as it will not only help in reducing high cholesterol level but also cure several other health conditions. So, enjoy the rich, nutty flavor of ghee without getting worried about cholesterol in ghee.
