Cheap Holidays to Tenerife Allow You to Visit Famous Places

by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

Visited by millions of tourists annually from different corners of the world, Tenerife is the largest of all the seven Canary Islands of Spain. This is the island in the archipelago where tourists can have an exciting nightlife in the clubs and bars besides sunbathing on its sandy beaches. As you move beyond the tourist hotspots crowded with enthusiastic explorers and revellers, you'll find mesmerising mountain villages, ancient towns, and port settlements. If you're on the island during the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, you'll get the chance to witness one of the largest carnivals in the world that makes almost the entire capital city come alive with zestful celebrations.

During your cheap holidays to Tenerife, you'll get to explore its famous attractions. Among them is Mount Teide National Park, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and houses a volcanic peak called Mount Teide. It is the highest mountain peak in Spain, with an altitude of more than 3,700 metres. If you like hiking, you can embark on an adventurous expedition to the base of its summit. You can also choose to skip hiking and take a cable car to reach the same spot. Upon reaching the summit base, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the island and its surroundings.

Your holidays spent on this wonderful Canary Island would also allow you to unwind on its most popular beaches dotted along the gorgeous coastline, which stretches to more than 400 kilometres. Of all the beaches located on this coastline, 17 have been honoured with the prestigious Blue Flag status. There are some unique ones as well, such as the man-made Playa de las Teresitas. Located in the capital city of the island, it is a sheltered beach created with sand that was brought from the Sahara Desert. If you wish to escape the crowds on some of the popular beaches and enjoy a serene atmosphere, visit Playa Bollullo, Playa El Puertito, or Playa del Pozo.

While holidaying on the beautiful island of Tenerife, don't forget to explore the Museum of Science and the Cosmos, located in La Laguna. It is one of the most prominent museums in the country and takes you to an interesting world of astronomy and science. You can know more about these disciplines with the help of the museum's exhibits, demonstrations, interactive displays, planetarium, astronomy evenings, and fun-filled activities for visitors of all ages. The museum opens at 9:00 in the morning and charges a nominal entry fee.

A visit to Piramides de Guimar Ethnographic Park would give you the chance to explore an intriguing group of stone pyramids that were discovered in the late 20th century. You'll get to know about various theories that surround the origin of these pyramids and about the other pyramids and similar structures from around the world during your visit to this park. While on your visit to this particular spot in Tenerife, you can also get to know about the scientific and archaeological investigations that took place in Guimar.
