The current President of the United States, Donald John Trump, who is also the 45th President had an unprecedented political stint since January 20, 2017 along with his share of endless stirring controversies before and after his entry into politics. It is a well known thing that Donald J.Trump was a successful businessman and television personality before entering politics as the oldest and wealthiest person ever to assume the presidency. He was an economics degree graduate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and also ran his family real estate company which he later renamed it as ‘The Trump Organisation’. He’s also a co-author of several books besides branding and licensing his name for several of his real estate and other products and multiple side ventures.

Trump showed keen interest in politics at an early age in his life and he entered the 2016 Presidential race as a Republican and defeated sixteen of his opponents including Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton. He came across to many commentators as a populist, protectionist, and nationalist in his political stand. Many of his public statements were false or controversial and his campaign was the eye of extensive and free media coverage. However, there are innumerable issues in his political and personal life that makes him more than eligible to be the controversy’s child.

His infamous controversial streak and why!

• Trump and his businesses had been involved in more than 3,500 state and federal legal actions, as of 2016. His hotel and casino businesses have been declared bankrupt six times between 1991 and 2009.

• Trump University, a for-profit education company founded by Trump was filed a $40 million civil suit by the State of New York in 2013 alleging that the company had made false statements and defrauded its customers.

• Trump gained fame for his provocative style of political speeches and willfully said things that other competing candidates could not say during his political campaigns.His White nationalist support also earned him a lot of political mileage during his election campaigns.

• Two days before the second presidential debate, a 2005 recorded tape surfaced in which Trump was heard bragging about forcibly kissing and groping women. In the tape, Trump also spoke of his efforts to seduce a married woman and the statements were recorded several months after Trump married his third and then pregnant current wife Melania. Trump’s language on the tape was described by the media as “vulgar”, “sexist”, and sexually assaulting. This incident prompted him to make his first public apology during the campaign causing outrage across the political spectrum which almost lead him to quit his candidacy from the race of becoming the 45th U.S President.

• Trump also gained widespread media coverage especially when a total of 19 women had accused him of sexual misconduct so far, though Trump and his campaign have denied all of those accusations as “false smears” alleging a conspiracy against him.

• Trump’s connections to Russia were intensely scrutinized by the media and during the campaign, Trump repeatedly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin as a strong leader which casted doubt on the legitimacy of his electoral victory.

• Trump has been labeled as a nationalist for repeatedly stating that he supports “America First” foreign policy. In 2015, he called for seizing the oil in ISIS-occupied areas in order to confront the Islamic State of Irag and Syria (ISIS).

• North Korea became a major issue in the mid of 2017 as it accelerated its missile and nuclear tests, leading to increased tension. The issue became intense when in August, Trump dramatically escalated his rhetoric against North Korea, warning that further provocation against the U.S will be met with strong retaliation like the world has never seen till now. This raised world-wide speculations of another possible world war amongst the nations.
