Acne is the temporary problem but acne scars can be permanent. Scars are part of the skins’ healing process after it has been damaged by an injury or wound. Most of the superficial wounds heal without scarring and it’s when the dermis is damaged that scars form on the skin. The main problem of today’s teenage girls is how to remove pimple scars and how to prevent them. Here you are going to know about the causes of acne scars and some useful tips to prevent them.

Causes of acne scars:

Acne scars are the product of an inflamed lesion such as cyst, papule or pustule. An inflamed blemish occurs when the pore or follicle becomes engorged with dead skin cells, excess oil and bacteria. The pore swells causing a break in the follicle walls and if the rupture occurs near the skin’s surface, the lesion is minor and heals quickly.

Lesions arise when there is a deep break in the follicle wall and the infected material spills out into the dermis and destroy healthy skin tissue. The skin forms new collagen fibers, to repair the damage done to the dermis. This collagen is the fibrous protein gives the skin its flexibility and strength. Finished the repair job never looks as smooth and flawless as before the injury.

Inflammation is the single gauge of scar development and the greater inflammation on the skin is likely scarring is to occur. Mostly deep breakouts take a long time to heal and also increase the chance of scarring. Whiteheads, blackheads and other non-inflamed blemishes don’t cause scarring because this type of lesions doesn’t injure skin tissue.

Types of acne scars:

When the wound heals the body produces too much collagen that creates a mass of raised tissue on the skin surface. This type of scarring is called keloid, scarring or hypertrophic. Acne causes depressed or atrophic scars. Atrophic scars such as boxcar or ice pick develop when there is a loss of tissue.
