Cannabis Culture: Why People Swear This Plant Helps

Countries Where Bitcoin Is Legal & Illegal (DISH, OTSK)

The long criminalization of cannabis is ending and users are either coming out of the dark or picking up the product again after a long hiatus. While the FDA has approved one CBD product for severe seizure disorders, other benefits, particularly for adults, are anecdotal. If you know of someone who benefits from the use of a cannabis product and are interested in trying it yourself for a particular condition, make sure you buy from a reputable supplier that offers third party testing and organic products.

Chemical Considerations

When cannabis users talk about the therapeutic benefits of cannabis, they are generally talking about terpenes The most commonly known terpenes are cannabidiol, or CBD, and tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. Both of these terpenes attach to your cannabinoid receptors, but the impact is different. According to anecdotal evidence, CBD stops or limits the transmission of pain data, and reduces the chronic spinning of anxious thoughts. THC creates a sense of euphoric disconnection, or high.

Relaxation

As a general rule, the indica strain is thought to be relaxing and the sativa strains is thought to be energizing. Hybrids can go either way, and users are encouraged to track their own reaction to find the most effective cannabis product for their needs.

However, nothing is that simple. First of all, each user is different. Secondly, each user comes to the product with a different need. Finally, indica, sativa and hybrids contain many more chemicals than just CBD and THC. The process of heating cannabis creates new chemicals, and each user will react to those in their own way.

To start, consider using CBD to reach a relaxed state. If you want a feeling of disconnection or high as well as relaxation, start with a an indica strain and take a standard dose.

Any time you start to self-medicate; it is a particularly good idea to keep a journal, so you know how well the product impacts your symptoms. Track your reaction at the time, then within an hour, and for each hour following until you go to bed or no longer feel the product. This will help you to determine the right dose for your need.

Rest

Many use a full dose of a high CBD product, generally harvested from hemp or from the indica strain, to fight insomnia and rest deeply. If you find that CBD helps you fall asleep, but you then struggle to stay asleep, you can stack.

CBD comes in many formats. For sleep, you can

  • take a dropper dose of CBD oil under the tongue

  • pair that with an edible gummy dose at the same time

The dropper should start to work within 15 minutes, then generally wane after 2 hours. The gummy has to be digested, so it may take up to 2 hours to have an impact.

Focus

If CBD helps you to sleep, you can also take this product in microdose form. For example, if 25 mg helps you to reduce anxious thoughts and get sleepy, 5 mg may calm anxious thoughts for a time until you need another microdose. You can add 5 mg to your coffee, a smoothie, or take a couple of puffs on a vaping pen.

Microdosing can also help to control chronic pain.

Pain Relief and Skin Inflammation

Any form of cannabis can help stop the transmission of pain data from irritated nerves to the brain. Because many users find that the sativa strain also gives them more energy, anyone struggling with severe damage should take care before a workout that has been pre dosed with THC products. Feeling good does not mean being injury free.

However, you can use cannabis topicals to help you get on top of pain that is made easier by exercise. If you have osteoarthritis in your knees, a workout can help, but you have to get started. A cannabis lotion or cream can help right at the site of pain.

Cannabis products are high in antioxidants and many have an antimicrobial benefit. If you are struggling with a rash, irritation, or some form of psoriasis, cannabis topicals may help.

Euphoria

If you like a beer at the end of the day to shed the stresses and frustrations of life, you enjoy the depressive benefits of alcohol. Cannabis products containing THC can provide a similar relief from the other direction. Instead of suppressing the negative feelings, THC can lift you over them. This offers both negative and positive results.
Negative result: When life is really bad, THC use becomes a need. While physical addiction to cannabis is not a concern, an emotional addiction to anything can be destructive.

Positive result: If your brain is loading you down with anxious thoughts and your life construct is viewed as scary or dangerous, THC use can lift you up high enough to note that your reality is not as permanent as you believe. Busting through the construct and focusing on what you want your life to look like can be easier with THC use.

Creative Energy

Many folks find that cannabis, and in particular, sativa products allow them to see new fixes for old problems. To that end, if you want to use cannabis to boost your creative output, consider setting yourself up to get the biggest bang from your use.

Tune up your guitar. Open up your paints. Head down to your studio. Get yourself in your creative space before you use the product to see what blooms where you plant yourself.

Another option is to do a brain dump before you use. Toss all your troubles on paper. They do not have to be related in any way. Open up your head, toss all your ideas out there on the page and try that new strain. Go for a walk to open up your mind by engaging your body in something habitual. See what connections can be made by your elevated brain and write down all the ideas that come.
