Express Entry is an application management system used by the Canada
Immigration authority, the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees Citizenship Canada)
to manage the profiles of those applicants who are looking to relocate to
Canada through various streams defined by the Canada Immigration authority. Through
the Express Entry program, each of the profile will be awarded a score. Based
on the score, the profiles will be ranked. The Express Entry system follows
Comprehensive Ranking system. Based on the ranking and the requirement locally,
the profiles get shortlisted for the requirement in Canada.
This point system was introduced in the
year 2015. Most of the skilled professionals, investors and traders use this
system to explore their future in Canada now. It is one of the most successful
profile management systems. The Express Entry system gives score based on
certain factors or parameters. The applicants who have successfully completed
their processing through this system become eligible for Canada
Permanent Residency. The factors are classified into different groups.

Core/Human
Capital Factors-
i.
Age – Through this factor, the maximum
score an applicant can gain is 100, if applying alone and if with a partner,
110. A person between the age bracket of 18 and 44 years can apply. Anybody
between the age of 22 and 29 years get 100 points for their age. Whereas
applicants below the age of 22 get 90-95 score. As the age increases beyond 35
years, the score for this factor continuously reduces. However, such applicants
can gain more in other factors.
ii.
Level of Education – This is one of the
factors that can help the applicant score the most. The range of score for this
factor is 28 to 140 for a single applicant and 30 – 150 if the applicant is
applying along with spouse. A person with a doctor level University degree can
obtain a score of 140.
iii.
Canada Language Benchmark – Canada has 2
official languages. One is French and One English. Each province has its
individual need while English is commonly used in most of the provinces.
Through CLB each individual earns a max score of 32, if he/she earns a CLB of
10. If the applicant is applying along with spouse, then together they earn a
max score of 34 depending on their CLBs. The language tests will be done by a
selected set of authorized agents. This is very important as it can be the
decisive factor for the applicant. XIPHIAS Immigration provides expert guidance
and training for the individuals to gain in the CLBs.
iv.
Canada Work Experience – Work Experience
in relevant domain is an added advantage and when an individual has work
experience in Canada, that itself can boost one’s score. It is important that
the applicant has a minimum of 1 year of work experience in the domain he/she
is applying for. Anybody with more than 5 years of work experience gains 70+
points if applying solo and 80+ points if applying along with spouse.
v.
Second Language- Although this is not
mandatory. Individuals who know another language especially French will be
given more points.
Spouse/
Common-law factors- Based on the qualifications of the
common-law partner/spouse, the combined score gets pumped up. The combined
score the joint applicants can reach 500 points while the score for individual
applicant can reach up to 460 points.
Skill
transferability Factors- If the individual
applicant has a secondary degree along with strong language score, then the
applicant gets an additional 50 points to his/her score. Similarly, if the
applicant has masters degree along with strong domain experience he/she gets an
extra 50 points under this factor. If the individual has both foreign and
Canadian experience, he/she gets an extra score of 50 points. Any kind of
certification can boost the score. A combination of foreign experience and
strong CLB can also earn an extra 50 points for the applicant. Under this
section, one can earn a maximum of 100 points.
Additional
Factors – Any knowledge of French or Spanish can
earn an extra score for the applicant. Having a relative in Canada can earn
extra points. Other factors that impact the score are –
i.
A degree of any stand from any
of the Canadian university
ii.
A Job offer from an employer
based in Canada
iii.
A provincial nomination can
help the applicant earn 600 points.
Under this
section, an individual can earn only a max of 600 points.
These factors max scoring is 1200 points.
The cut off score varies depending on the need of each stream of immigration.
XIPHIAS Immigration evaluates each profile
before proceeding to the next stage of application. This evaluation is
mandatory to get a fair idea of what score the individual can gain. This
evaluation is done by professional lawyers who are experts in the area of
Canada immigration. XIPHIAS is registered with the ICCRC which makes it an
