Can I Become a Life Coach? Yes You Can!
by Dillon Patterson Article PublisherCan I become a life
coach? You most certainly can! A life coach does not need to be immensely
intelligent but you do need to possess certain traits to become an effective
and well sought after coach. There are also some professional and personal
qualifications that are needed to become a life coach that I will be citing
below, so feel free to continue reading to answer your question, "If you
can become a life coach?"
I have listed below 7
important traits that I strongly believe a coach must have to become successful
in his career.
1- The first trait one
must have is integrity and truthfulness. In order to have a good relationship
with your client, a coach must gain and have his client's trust. To gain that
trust a coach's integrity must be intact.
2- With the first trait
identified, do you think you can honestly say yes to the question, for you to
become a life coach?" If your answer is still yes, then let us state the
second trait, which is being objective. A life coach must give advice without
any biases or judgements.
3- Do not make any
commands. As a coach you give advice. You do not tell your clients what they
can or cannot do. You should only offer them guidance. They have the final say
in their lives and will make their decisions.
4- Another very important
trait a coach must have is being a good listener. An important aspect in a
coach's job is when his clients pour out their souls to you. As a good listener
you should know when to speak and when to take in and listen to what they are
saying.
5- A good coach is also
very observant. Being able to see changes in your client's actions, body
language can mean many things and being observant can help you as a coach.
6- You may wonder why I
am listing the following trait down and may say that it is not necessary but it
really is. Excellent phone and email skills. We all know that we live in an era
that has been modernized with the use of technology and in order to keep up
with the times, we must be able to use this to our advantage. Phone and email
skills are communication skills. Knowing that we are communicating and reaching
out to our clients will keep our relationship with them stable.
With the first six traits
I have listed do you think you can answer the question already?
There is one last trait
that I must discuss with you. This trait is more of a gift than it is a trait.
It is the gift of coaching. Not all are destined to be coaches. One must have
the real passion to help others to become a coach. The first six traits I
stated can be taught and learned but having the gift of coaching comes from
within.
Can you become a life
coach? You are the only one who can answer that.
