Can a Botched Breast Lift be Corrected?

by Dr Rajat Gupta - RG Aesthetics Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon

As you think of botched breast correction, you may assume that the patient underwent surgery through an unskilled and inexperienced doctor. This may be true to a certain extent.

However, the need for breast correction may not be desired or expected; it need not be bothersome. A board-certified surgeon may correct a  botched breast to give you one of the best and most satisfying experiences.

Patients who have previously undergone a  “botched” breast lift are amazed to find how a revision surgery helps. Creative skills and innovative techniques by Dr Rajat Gupta at RG Aesthetics may dramatically enhance even the worst outcomes. Nonetheless, it is not needed to bear intense pain or uneasiness.

What are the common corrections needed from a botched breast lift?

The main issues may include scarring, non-uniform or uneven breast position, incision location, sagging breasts, the difference in position of the nipple-areola complex etc.

How can a botched breast lift be corrected?

The procedure remains more or less the same as the breast lift. The surgery begins with administering you with anaesthesia. It could be local or general anaesthesia which relies on your surgeon.  Your best breast lift surgeon gives the incisions.   This is a short scar technique. Two incision types are used in a breast lift: the periareolar incision and inframammary incisions.

The periareolar incision is made only when your breast and skin sags mildly. The incision is given around the nipple-areola region. It is the site where the darker skin of the areola meets the lighter skin. This ensures to camouflage the surgical scar to impart an insignificant or scarless appearance.

Alternatively, the inframammary incision can be the choice when your breasts are abnormally distended with excess skin. This incision imparts a lollipop-shaped incision. According to the surgeons, it is the safest incision to access breast tissue.

This incision spans from the periareolar mark to the underside of the breast downwards. The scar from this incision is comparatively visible. However, it subsides and turns insignificant and unnoticeable during the recovery.

The type of incision depends on your requirements or the breast corrections from the previous surgery. Once the appropriate incision, your surgeon may eliminate the abnormal tissue or skin.  If the issue is with the shape, then reshaping the breast tissue may be done for your breast’s refined and aesthetic appearance. If the areola is large, the nipple-areola region’s skin is eliminated to reposition them to an elevated position.

Once the revision breast lift surgery is completed, your plastic surgeon closes the incisions with absorbable sutures. A compression garment is given for use 24/7. It helps to prevent abnormal post-operative swelling. It also molds your chest to a new shape.
